Time is Fire is a band that could only come out of Washington DC. Rooted in DC's post-punk scene but reaching out to embrace rhythms from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and beyond, the group summons a kaleidoscopic sound that knows no borders-- a static blast of experimental radio from a country that doesn't exist.

New album 'Right Kind of Trouble' now on Spotify! Nikhil Dhingra cut his teeth in music before he was 4 years old, strumming an old acoustic guitar which he ultimately smashed to smithereens trying to emulate Elvis. Early on he idolized singer-songwriters, from modern pop icons to timeless legends like Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, and Dylan, of course. 

Early in his career, he heavily played the circuit in his Dallas hometown, including The Door and Gypsy Tea Room as well as the Philadelphia circuit where he went to college, in venerable venues such as World Cafe Live.

Dhingra's latest works draw on his Waits-infused twenties and have subtle jazz and blues underpinnings, while some touch on newer experimental synth pop sounds. Although foraying into diverse sounds and themes, his work always stays true to his folk rock and pop rock roots, with a sound and lyrical intent that genuinely spans a spectrum that would appeal to the Woodstock, Coachella, and Gen Z crowds.
