“Tell me how we would go on living”': you can consider these words as an essence for our new compilation Hyperboloid 2022. We have taken them from the lyrics of a new song by Gleb Raumskaya. Here you will find all the musical answers to the question of the musician from Omsk. Echoes of jungle, trance, breakbeat, ambient, hip-hop, bass and hyper-pop mix here into a whirlwind of feelings and styles. The collection starts with a farewell: our old friend Cadeu says goodbye to the departing year with ciao. 
You can find a lot of familiar names here: Pixelord, Famitsu, Summer of Haze, Koloah and Max Dahlhaus released their records on Hyperboloid this year. Long-time residents of the label SP4K, BOGUE, Sangam, Zakladki, Fisky and Nphonix are also represented with their special tracks. Sport DJ and ellija, new producers on our label, introduce themselves as the fresh blood of Russian electronic music. The 23rd flight from the Pilot label run by Burnski is a future-facing blend of tech, disco and house with a real intergalactic aesthetic. 'It's Your Duty' opens with a grinding bassline and snappy drums that soon get you marching, then 'Save Our Planet' (dub) spins out with some silky celestial melodies and twitchy drum funk. 'Nothing To Hide' glistens with some sci-fi charm as the tight drums and bulbous bassline move things onwards, and 'Strolling The River' shuts down with another disco-tech sound that is lit up with sugar melodies and boogie motifs.

PREMIERE: Occibel - Strolling The River

Herb Rhythm has long been kicking out brilliantly garage and house sounds and now he is back with something a little deeper on GLBDOM Classic. 'True' is a smooth and soulful garage house sound, but it's not overly produced - there are still some nice frayed edges to the drums while the vocal is an r&b gem. It comes in various mixes from bumping for the club to more cut-up and 2-step from Ease Up George. On the flip is the fresh dub garage delight 'So Many' with plenty of nostalgic throwbacks and liquid chords, then 'You Can Do It' closes with a more direct sound but still plenty of warming pads. A mighty useful EP, for sure.

Fedor Stepanenko aka Nphonix aka @Lowres_music (with @voltanov) aka NxF (with @fiskyoioioi) aka Benway is a multi-genre electronic music artist from Moscow, Russia.

Fedor first made his mark on the electronic world via a slew of quality dancefloor-oriented drum&bass tunes from 2006 onwards, released on some of the genres preeminent labels. But the last 10+ years has seen Nphonix switch focus away from drum&bass towards a more diverse, polyrhythmic electronic palette, as bass / beats / techno and house all started to colour newer work.

Lowres is a house music project by two old friends with completely different musical backgrounds.
Until 2012, Feodor Stepanenko (aka @nphonix) spent many years productively engaged in drum&bass, after which he switched to modern bass, techno and house music. Ivan Voltanov (aka @voltanov / Zimmer G) is a downtempo music aficionado who has several lounge albums in his back catalogue.
The symbiosis of such different views on electronic music produced a sound that can be best described as warm and dusty house with lo-fi treatment.
