Dru - Riccardo's Groove

Embarking on our musical journey with Wiremü, originally from New Zealand and now based in Leeds, we set sail with his EP, "The Subtle Hustle." Beyond a personal passion, Wiremü's dedication to music production serves as a tribute to his Maori heritage, infusing his compositions with profound cultural depth.

"The Subtle Hustle," the opening track, forges a dynamic tone with deep bass, punchy percussion, and house-infused Rhodes chords. Minimal references and synthetic rips seamlessly fuse, creating a captivating dance track.

"Beat-Up Town," the second track on the A side, is a dance floor blockbuster with bouncy bass, accompanied by an 808 kick drum. Keyboard work integrates chords into a dynamic groove, making it stand out among dance tracks.

"Key Notes Frequency Quotes," opening the B side, introduces lead hi-hats contributing to a great dynamic. Vocal inserts layer over ripped synthesizer parts, creating a house vibe filled with energy and style.

Closing the record, 'Have You Written On The Wall?' takes us on a journey through running percussion and minimalistic elements, skilfully compressing space and stretching time, accompanied by atmospheric backing.

The friends walked out of a vinyl store in beautiful Delft. Their faces irradiated joy because, among other things, they had finally found that rare release.
— Let me carry this, — Plate offered, taking the heavy tote bags and hanging them on the handlebars of his bike. — Get on the rack, let's go.

The weather was lovely: the sun was shining and it smelled fresh. They rode past picturesque farms and green fields, enjoying the beauty of the summer day and chatting about the much-anticipated discoveries of the evening musical.

Upon reaching home, Plate brewed his favourite aged sheng pu-erh and settled on the couch. Needle carefully pulled out a FRAXA record and put it on the turntable. Vibrations filled the room.
— I could listen to this forever, — Needle admitted, sinking deeper and deeper into the song.
— Me too, — Plate replied. — This is something truly special.

Music, tea and pleasant company made this evening unforgettable. At times like this, you feel absolutely blissful.

Convent Records welcomes back NYC duo J Gabriel & Connie Yin with their latest project, Rusty Slide—a playful, psychedelic club track accompanied by a slick music video.
J Gabriel, founder of Onysia and Convent Records, is known for his versatile approach to club music. Connie has been a key figure in NYC’s minimal scene for nearly 20 years. Their last release, 2021’s State of Mind EP, received major support on main stages at events like Sunwaves and Music On, with DJs such as Apollonia and tINI behind it.

Rusty Slide is catchy, light-hearted and instantly relatable. The music video, directed by Dennis Lucido, brings the theme of indecision to life with playful compositions, clever match cuts and dynamic transitions that reflect the track’s energy.

The video features a shortened version of Rusty Slide, followed by a 30-second preview of the duo’s upcoming vinyl-only release, Kiss and Hug, due out at the end of the year.
