I just found out my remix of Tevo Howard's "Boing Pop" has been included - without my approval - on the Hed Kandi Beach House 2014 compilation. I usually feel honoured when my music is selected for these types of things but I mean Hed Kandi is this total horror-conglomerate that uses retarded imagery drawn straight from the sexual fantasies of horny twelve year old boys to pimp a very sad idea of house music to the masses, so this time I just feel depressed. What's worse is that the owner of Rebirth (the label who originally released my remix) edited the track - again without my approval - into something shorter and clumsier, completely fucking up the flow of the music. Please don't support this bullshit - if you like the tune, you can now download it (the real version) from my Soundcloud page, free of charge. Enjoy!

Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named ‘Rojus’, that Linus told me translated as ‘Paradise’. The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named ‘Designed To Dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of Birds Of Paradise. As I watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these Birds Of Paradise and their habitat. We're big fans of the Cold Tonic crew and they blew the roof off last time they joined us in the shop for an in-store session with label heads Krystal Klear and Maurice Alexander playing alongside Gerd Janson and Philip Laurer. Since their first release we've been strong supporters of their imprint and but their newest release really caught our attention since it features a brand new signing on the flip. "Nothing But A Freak" marks Sandboards musical debut and we can't get enough of it! The emotional House cut combines rattling drums and melancholic chords to comfortably sit underneath a spoken word monologue about the one thing that keeps us moving... We're very excited to see what this the New Zealand duo comes up with next! Keep an eye on these two, we have the feeling they'll be coming up quick! in the meantime, reserve a copy of of their new split release with Krystal Klear ahead of the official release at the end of the month.
