Since launching in 2015, Sydney based Aaron Andrew's Chubby Records has become a well trusted Deep House imprint. Their long-awaited next release ‘Various Volume 4’ is perhaps their most expansive release yet, with four fresh cuts each with an accompanying remix stretched across two slabs of wax, with a who's who of some of the best names in house and techno.

Kicking off, Aleqs Notal goes deep on the immersive and hypnotic, 'Planetary Insanity'. His ultra-smooth deep Detroit styled techno laying a super solid foundation for the track. In-demand producer Life Recorder makes his debut on Chubby, turning the more streamlined original into a euphoric and optimistic dance floor gem.  Cheerier and breezier deep house warmth comes courtesy of Jose Rico's 'Agonias'. Known for his lively tribal beats, the melody is as unique and classy as ever, staying right in the sweet spot.  Leonid goes deep and shoots for a more stripped-down rework homing in on the chords and tribal vibes.

On the second piece of vinyl is one of Australia's most respected artists, Ewan Jansen, with ‘Basilica’.  It’s a late-night deep house groover that rides a sublime Detroit vibe.  One of the EP’s standout moments is by Veteran producer Nail, who turns the dial to up on his early morning take on Jansen's bubbler.  The man behind Planisphere (who had one of the hottest reissues last year) David Swatten, brings the most laid-back jam of the comp with the super smooth 'Wave Energy'.  Crystalized melodies chime off waves of house bliss in this super clean cut. Legendary techno artist, John Beltran’s more upbeat Chicago rerub adds his forte to the mix. Its’s a gorgeous revision of Swatten's brilliantly bittersweet missive that will end any night on a high.

Spectrum march head-first into 2022 with this dark matter platter from one of Manchester's most respected DJs: Jozef K.

Following releases on the likes of True Romance, Rawax, Last Night On Earth and Frau Blau, Jozef maintains the spotlight heat with his debut on the label founded by one of his biggest influences.

'I remember I closed an event DJing after Joris Voorn when I was 19 in Manchester,' says Jozef. 'It was surreal; I had watched him playing a few times previously and was completely awestruck to play after him when I was basically a little kid.'

Now 32 and really hitting his stride, Jozef lands on Spectrum with a distinctive, discerning minimal sound. 'These two 2 tracks are an accurate representation of where I am at musically at the moment - dystopian, hypnotic and atmospheric.'

We couldn't put it better ourselves. Stripped right back to the most mesmerising elements, tailored for deep mix creativity or those magic 4am moments, we suspect this isn't the last we'll see of Jozef on Spectrum.

A million thoughts, memories and plans swirled round her head. She found it hard to live in the moment; always focused on the future or the past. In her opinion there was little to be gained from the present, she'd rather focus on what the future might or might not hold, even if it meant missing everything that was currently going on around her. Her hopes for what the years to come looked like were generally unrealistic, but she couldn't find any satisfaction in the here and now. 

Madrid's Sungate has been home to artists like Skudge, Trømmel and Rosati, to name but a few, and now they're welcoming two artists for a collaborative EP: Manchester producer Jozef K and acid aficionado Tin Man. Both have been making moves solo, Jozef with releases for the likes of Rawax, Lost City Archives and Firehouse, and Tin Man on Global A Records, Acid Test and Absurd Recordings. Of course the core of the release, Perfect & Nice Acid, is centred around the futuristic acid sounds both are no stranger to, with remixes on the flip from Voiski, Evigt Mörker and Moy Santana.

"Inward Spiral" is taken from "Explorations 09", the latest offering in @Anjunadeep's acclaimed compilation series and it's Manchester producer @jozef-k label debut. The track is an airy arrangement of subtle sounding synthwork that plays like magic against the backdrop of stuttering claps and organic percussion, the track seems to be perfectly aimed at both dancefloors and sun-drenched festival grounds.

"I am inspired by all art that I am exposed to: from architecture to paintings to film and of course music - so it is quite hard to pinpoint a singular example.  I use artistic influences combined with my mood in the studio that day, so basically it was inspired by my whole life to that point, which I guess sounds slightly ridiculous but also very true. I felt there was an ethereal, introspective quality to the record, hence the title." - Jozef K
