Here at The Disco Express, we are delighted to welcome Rose Robinson aka Tigerbalm to the label for her fantastic original EP, Jungle Pleasure.

Previously one half of UK duo Earthboogie, Tigerbalm's production fuses a deep tribal sound with electronic elements. Created using organic instrumentation her music stems from inspirations within African & Latin American music. With releases on Leng Records and soon Ubiquity, Tigerbalm celebrates international sounds, cosmic disco grooves and dance music.

Lead track Balveyda showcases Tigerbalm's versatility as a live musician and producer. Its brilliant tribal rhythms and raw uplifting melodies create a totally unique sound. Weaving through a multitude of patterns and stages, Balveyda is a 9 minute odyssey that defines her sound.

Following suit is Love Feat. Joy Tyson. Known for her work with Afro-Folk duo Farafim and Shishko Disco, Joy is a solo artist and collaborator who's stunning vocals overlaps Tigerbalm's progressive live instrumentation. The pair connected in late 2019 and wrote this tropical ballad together with vocals sung in English and Xhosa.

The Jungle Pleasure EP is neatly rounded off with two stellar club ready remixes from C.Da Afro and label resident Soundsmith.

Running Out of Steam return with their eight release this time from London born, Berlin based DJ and producer Amy Dabbs. The daughter of an original Northern Soul DJ, Amy started her musical journey through a vast collection of Motown records - lending itself to further exploration and inspiring her unique take on electronic music today. 

Since her widely acclaimed debut EP on Distant Horizons, Amy has released music on Slothboogie and Lobster Theremin’s White label - infusing a classic style at various speeds; from house, jungle and drum & bass. Now, across four tracks, walking basslines and warm sound-design incite feelings of nostalgia, hope and good old-fashioned fun - so let's dance. 

‘Places’ starts things off with it’s cascading hi-hats and foot-stomping kick drums; collectively combining classic stabs with feel-good energy in the form of steamy vocal snippets. ‘Flexin’ follows through with more hugs on the dance-floor, a track that almost feels like a final ode to summer and embraces you like the friends we waited so long to see. 

‘Be Yourself’ embodies the mantra of doing what you love, a view held deeply by Amy and can be heard running through all of her productions. The melodic elements blossom over beats in an equal exchange of energy, giving birth to a track that makes you feel as if you’re exactly where you need to be. ‘Rise’ then switches from the 4/4 template in favour of slickly programmed breakbeats - while maintaining the essence of classic house, with Amy’s own and ever embracing take.
