Raised on a diet of equal parts Roulé, Crydamoure, NY boogie and the sample sonics of Madlib and Dilla, KC is not considered a newcomer at Numbers HQ.  He has been moving between Paris, London and Glasgow, guided through late night sessions with Spencer and Jackmaster via multiple studios, two stolen laptops and a heap of Parisian haze.

The main ingredients in Kool Clap's kit are his keen ear for a sample, classic drum boxes, EMU SP-1200's and tweaked out analogue synths - including the presence of the very Korg Trident that provided the bassline to Braxe and Bangalter's Stardust megahit 'Music Sounds Better With You'.

Some music from one of the most beautiful adventures of my life..
While the gigs and my time at Burning Man in general were simply amazing, I had less luck with recording a proper set. From power breaks at stages in the middle of a set, to the gasoline of the art car running out, or a philharmonic orchestra playing nearby forcing me to stop my set.. to also me once simply forgetting the right cable :> I just could not record any complete set.. Quite like at Afrikaburn, things often just don't turn out the way you plan them at a Burn :) 
I wanted however to bring some musical memories back from the playa, so here is a reconstruction of one of my sunset sets played in Black Rock City. I hope you enjoy and may the dust be with you <3

In the summer of 1998, Time magazine asked, "Is Feminism Dead?" In reality, it was very much alive. On the margins of mainstream media coverage, lesbians, women of color, and international coalitions were paving the way for 21st-century feminism, including the 2017 Women's March and the #MeToo movement.

On today's show, guest host Nan Enstad explores this untold history of 90s feminism and its connection to our current moment with historian Lisa Levenstein. "I set out to research feminism in the 90s," says Levenstein, "but the story I found was about women of color, working-class women, and LGBT activists." And this vast and sprawling movement two decades ago, she argues, gives us insight into how we can mobilize today under an intersectional banner.

Lisa Levenstein is a professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where her research focuses on women and gender studies, transnational and U.S. feminism, and postwar social movements. She is the author of A Movement Without Marches: African American Women and the Politics of Poverty in Postwar Philadelphia (UNC Press, 2009) and They Didn't See Us Coming: The Hidden History of Feminism in the Nineties (Basic Books, 2020).
