MM Cast 02: COYOTE

Is it Balearic? Recordings' capos Timm Sure and Ampo have been on the "Balearic Scene" even before the word "Balearic" got fashionable some years ago.  They started as djs in the early 90's becoming residents at the historical "Venus" in Nottingham, it was in 2002 when they became producers and from then on they started producing tracks under the moniker Coyote, being responsable of notorious works signed on "International Feel", "Needwant" and "Music for Dreams" to name a few, and of course on their own imprint "Is It Balearic? Recordings"

Was in 2006 when "IIB?" started and since then, and a long with the sublabels "Über" and "Magic Wand", 15 years of pure Balearic Bliss where the "brithish-downtempo-maestros" have featured artists from the likes of Max Essa, Danielle Baldelli, Dj Rocca, Bonnie & Klein, Mori Ra and Anton Klint to name a few.

2021 has been a very prolific year for Coyote, delivering an amazing EP "Return to life" and another remixes ep of their LP "Buzzard Country", both records on "Is It Balearic? Recordings". They also have been working for MM Discos doing a magical rework of Bonnie & Klein's Albatros

The contribution of the Nottingham based producers to the scene is unquestionable and crucial, being a constant influence for dj's and producers who decided to move forward with the sound that artists like Dj Alfredo, Paul Oakenfold or Jose Padilla discovered back in the days from the "white Island" to rest of the world.

When we talk about their sound, a question comes to our head,,"Is it Balearic?", of course it is, but more than this, this is COYOTE Sound!!

About Max's mix, he prepared a small presentation of what he recorded : " It’s partly a typical soundtrack to my day, but also a ‘travelogue’ of sorts. The music sparks memories and daydreams, causing my mind to wander to far off places, both experienced and imagined :-)"

From an early age i’d always bought records 7’’ picture discs were my go to thing before i moved onto exploring what else your pocket money could buy and discovered the 12’’ and LP.

A friend of mine introduced me to listening to John Peel when i was 13 and that was and is the reason i listened to lots of different styles of music.

Whilst growing up you will always discover many different sounds and the older you get the more you dig around and the more music you hear and so on.

John Peel and my mates gave me the chance to hear so many good records over the years and through time many others will influence your musical tastes and avenues.

One such person was the late great Andy Weatherall, his selection and production of music will always be the doorway to the other side of music that you haven’t heard just yet but he knew you would like it.

So Music For Other People, this is a monthly podcast where i can talk about records that i have bought & found along the way, as well as music that i have been introduced to through many like minded record enthusiasts and collectors.
