Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble, directed by Anne Hege, presents a wry, sometimes bemused exploration in song of forgotten ways of life.

The concert also features the premiere of “On Music and Nature,” a trilogy of works by Bay Area composer Ann Callaway based on the poems of 19th century English mystic Gerard Manley Hopkins. Callaway is the inaugural composer of Voci’s New Works Project.

“Songs of the Bygone” revives aspects of daily life from years past through works by J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Gustav Holst, Gyorgy Ligeti, Otmar Macha, Arne Mellnas, Thomas Morley, Henry Purcell, Jeno von Takacs, Gwyneth Walker and Alice Parker.
