I woke up sweatin’ in a cheap café,
The waitress said, “Señor, you gonna pay?”
I said, “Funny thing, I would if I could,
But my wallet took off... ain’t that good?”
So I hit the street, all sand and sun,
Lookin’ for leather, but I found fun...
A mariachi crew with brass and soul,
Played “Cielito Lindo” till they took my toll.

I lost my wallet in El Segundo,
The trumpets blared and tequila flowed.
Now I’m payin’ off tabs I don’t even owe,
Chasin’ shadows where the warm winds blow.
Thought I found it... turns out, no,
In the land of sand and the neon glow.
I lost my wallet in El Segundo...
And man, that’s just how stories go.

The bar man winked, said, “This one’s free,”
Next round came... cost infinity.
I said, “My friend, that’s not what I meant,”
He said, “You drink one, that’s a binding event.”
So I grabbed a rag, joined the staff,
Washin’ dishes, the band still laughed.
Trumpets playin’, they wouldn’t quit,
I’m singin’ backup just to cover my debt.

I lost my wallet in El Segundo,
Chasin’ dreams in a sideways flow.
Mariachi singin’, “Señor, olé!”
While I mop the floor and fade away.
If you see my ID, please let me know,
Guess fate’s got jokes today, amigo.
El Segundo took my dough,
And left me hummin’ soft and low.

Then the light got weird, my head got tight,
The world went hazy, I lost the fight.
Woke up starin’ at a busted sign,
Bus stop, East L.A. line.
I said, “Wait a minute, this ain’t the show,
Ain’t no mariachi, where’d they go?”
Checked my pockets, not a cent in tow,
Guess El Segundo was all in the glow.

The asphalt shimmered, the bus rolled by,
A pigeon stared with a judging eye.
I laughed and said, “Man, that’s rich,
Lost my wallet and my mind in a glitch.”
The driver said, “Hop in, no fee,”
I said, “You sure?”... he said, “Buddy, I see.
You’re cooked, sunburned, maybe deranged...
But El Segundo’s far, and dreams get strange.”

So now I’m ridin’, hummin’ that tune,
The one they played beneath that moon.
Was it real, or a fevered game?
I still smell tequila when they call my name.
And maybe life’s a mariachi band,
You wave your hands... don’t understand.
They play your song till you fade from view,
Then wake up broke... but brand new too.

I lost my wallet in El Segundo,
Runnin’ on hope and a bus-stop flow.
Tequila dreams and desert pride,
Guess I found myself where I nearly died.
El Segundo? No go, it seems,
Just a heatstroke wrapped in dreams.
If you lose your way in that sunlit glow,
Don’t chase your wallet... just let it go.
