Nova Polaris -
The lead singer and songwriter of Nova Polaris, Petina Arskog (born Nov. 5th. 1969) has traveled many musical ways to get to where she is right now. This is heard and felt deeply and convincing in her musical universe and language. Petina is the core of Nova Polaris, which as a band has a rare refined way of getting all the musical ingredients to work together, so that it is very difficult to define the genre. The roots are jazz, with hints of pop and soul. The groove is somehow funky and at the same time energetic and intense indie rock, they top everything off with a twist of ancient Nordic sounds. All is woven tight and lead by cunning melodies and out of this emerges a rare and very unique sound. As a lyricist Petina also manages to surprise with her take on life lived that is the subject matter. Each band member has been carefully handpicked to fit the musical universe of Nova Polaris and Petina’s warm and rusty voice. This fact makes it a true pleasure to surrender into this universe that on one hand is brand new territory and on the other hand is a walk down familiar roads and memory lane with a very personal touch from both the lead singer and the band. So far Nova Polaris have been a live act and travelled around Denmark with the act. They have recently started recording their first album (June/July 2015) and a video is planned to be published on Youtube shortly. During the early spring of 2016 they will be releasing their first album in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and they are planning a tour of the GSA in the summer of 2016.
