Three four-bar drum sequences are played for a total of 12 bars. The composition begins with an intro sequence, moves onto the main sequence, and finally, the outro.

Rhythmic composition created with Ableton's Drum Rack. The piece includes seven distinct sequences made using nine samples that I imported into Ableton from Audacity and then altered via the Ableton Simpler. The nine samples are:
- Bass
- Buzz
- Pew
- Extra_Bass (Louder and punchier)
- Click 
- Hi-Hat
- Rimshot
- Snare 
- Tsk

All samples were made using only sounds my mouth produced. For instance, Click is simply a recorded tongue click, Rimshot was made using a "Kuh" sound, and Pew is me recording myself going "pew." 

Rhythmic-Noise-Lab

I made the drum beats using the 808 and 606 Core Drum Kits. The synth has an analog and Max for the Live layer. The analog layer has a second Oscillator, which plays seven semitones higher than the original note. The Max for Live layer has an ASDR modulator and will also produce two notes, one of approximately three semitones higher. I had to look up many formulas (like converting notes into audio frequencies and adjusting their pitch). Overall, it creates a Bass that excels when playing long notes, so I tried to contrast that with the fast tempo and drum beats.

It was an unusual choice to work with 45BPM, as it is a prolonged tempo. However, it allowed me to relax and focus on the notes I wanted in the song. Featuring only one main melody, I focused on the song's energy and how I could add and subtract it naturally. I wanted a choir for the final build-up, so I attempted to build my own, which was interesting, if nothing else. Overall, I'm proud of what I've done, though if I had to work on a project like this in the future, I'd try implementing different sound effects, as I focused my sound effects on the choir and the drums.

An audio essay about the Sun. I was very conservative with my use of sound effects, as I felt too many would distract the listener. Instead, I used well-timed vamps and made sure to duck my tracks as needed. I was also very intentional with my use of silence. The topic of the essay isn't particularly dramatic, so I intentionally used silence to try to make it as dramatic as possible.

While most of the sound effects came from either me or Ableton's built-in Library of sounds, the sword clashing and morning sunrise sounds came from Pixabay.
