L’illusione di un avvenire è il sentimento del nostro tempo, che viviamo come un tempo scaduto. Cosa desiderare, nel tempo degli ultimi desideri?

Si tomas el camino que lleva al último faro del mundo, podrías encontrarte con personajes de Goya saludándote desde una barandilla, y con un caballero ingenioso hablando de vieiras, deseos y aventuras. La ilusión de un futuro es el sentimiento de nuestro tiempo, que vivimos como si fuera una época ya pasada. ¿Qué podemos desear en esta era de deseos postreros?

If you take the road that leads to the last lighthouse in the world, you might encounter Goya's characters waving at you from a railing, and a resourceful gentleman talking about scallops, desires, and adventures. The illusion of a future is the sentiment of our time, which we live in as if it were a time past its prime. What can we desire in this age of final desires?

I have taken the chance to associate an old study of mine (2013) to this image which I believe capture the same introspection.

Piano Works is the second installment of Lucy Claire’s ‘Works’ series. It is an eclectic take on what piano music can be. Featuring cellist Ren Ford (Keaton Henson’s Romantic Works) and violinist Marie Schreer (The Royal Northern Sinfonia) and surrounded in atmospheric binaural soundscapes, the piano is far from lonely. The work features a collection of pianos from grands and uprights, to electric keyboards, toy and thumb pianos. It is grounded in the real world but hints strongly at the magical and supernatural, it absorbs, transports, then delivers you back to reality with new perspective.

Italian composer and pianist Luca Longobardi represents the generation of classically trained musicians who incorporate the language of contemporary electronic music into their pieces, which are furthermore strongly connected to the multimedia arts. Born in 1976, Longobardi studied classical music in Italy and New York and went on to earn his doctorate in digital audio restoration in Rome in 2011. His works reveal a strong interaction between classical and contemporary music. The experience he has gained as a theatre musician has increased his interest in the relationship between sounds and spectacle; he has composed music for ballets and films and accompanied installations and experimental art productions (Atelier de Lumières - Paris, Carrières de Lumières - Baux-de-Provence, Kunstkraftwerk - Leipzig). At his multimedia performances and in his recordings, strongly experimental electronic music meets pure, ethereal and simple-seeming piano playing that nevertheless relays deep emotions.
