Repetition, contrary to popular belief, can be a very good thing indeed. Take Mortar and Pestle’s newest release from http://soundcloud.com/futurewife for example.

The fantastically named “Housework” E.P is a rolling production line of beats and grooves that seem to go on forever. Each track a carefully selected batch of bars and notes from various sources, pieced together in constant motion with hypnotic results. Be it the slow sunset beach melancholy of Voodoo (Its that) or the filter house of Close It Down, the record sparkles with musical flare and astonishing confidence. An added bonus comes in the form of 21 year old Italian http://soundcloud.com/stereocool’s ‘okay’ remix of Springer Spaniel, turning the spaced out intro track into a fully fledged disco bass wriggler. 
As we are beginning to shed our winter wears and replacing mulled wine and coco for mojitos and ice cream, we are looking to Futurewife to supply our soundtrack to summer 2012.

01 Futurewife - Springer Spaniel

'Herbstlaub' is the second part of Rampue’s single trilogy; three vocal house pieces that are independent of each other yet also related. The Berlin producer and Dj hammers hir way self-confidentally but quietly through the jungle of the nervous system to the feet and to hearts.  
Herbstlaub: The timber is moist and heavy and the dead leaves dance inbetween it like snowflakes.  A thirty year old echo starts off weakly but eventually comes back. The breath condenses and makes the glass visible; the calming existence of a boundary between you and the world. 


Rampue - Herbstlaub

Bakermat is an alias for Fluttert's more techy, house like sounds. This track is called summer in Dutch.

The final remix, done by Colombian prodigy http://soundcloud.com/itsicarus, runs Shake the money through all the disco banger filters imaginable. Coming up next in the Audiolith Singles Club-series is a conjunctional joint strictly aiming at the worlds dancefloors – featuring the combined forces of two artist hailing one from Berlin, the other from Hamburg and both renowned far beyond the borders of their hometown for DJ and production efforts alike.

The opener „Sonne, Park und Sterni“ is catered by long-time Audiolith-associate and family member Rampue who has been involved in musical craftmanship ever since. At the controls for Ira Atari's album, collaborational efforts with Egotronic and Plemo, several compilation features and remixes for artists like Conjure One, pandoras.box, Bratze, Supershirt, Kidstreet and others under his belt plus remarkable solo tracks on both volumes of our „Stiff Little Spinners“ series show that this man is driven by force. And so does „Sonne, Park und Sterni“ which is a sweet, melodic trip into the realms of positive TechHouse vibes, serving a seductive leitmotif and thrilling, cut-up vocal wizzardry adding a bit of extra spice to the playful loveliness that is surely influenced by Berlin's vibrant open air rave movement.

Welcome to the third instalment from Colin Dale and Jules Dickens’ Abstrakt Dance imprint, which was launched last summer. Jules Dickens’ ‘The Return EP’ featuring a remix by Russ Gabriel follows on from a great start to the label that has already seen EPs from Colin Dale and Sir Lord Commix.

Jules Dickens, renowned for his production work as Abstract Source, is a London based DJ and producer, as well as a studio owner and teacher. So, quite the busy man! But here, he takes time out from this hectic schedule to present his first release for Abstrakt Dance.

‘The Return EP’ opens with the deepness of ‘Another Place’ where a smooth groove meets washes of synth work and cool, housey beats. The Detroit-esque piano of ‘The Return’ follows on with its thumping bassline under layers of claps, cymbals and dappled electronics, before the melancholy melodies and acid-tinged effect of ‘Analog Soul’, the last of Jules’ original three workings takes hold.

The release ends in a flourish from Techno heavyweight Russ Gabriel who (for anyone who’s been in a coma since the 90s!) has had releases on Planet-E, Peacefrog, Soma and his own highly respected Ferox label amongst others, with more recent outings on the likes of Mobilee and Pokerflat to his name. His characteristic remix on ‘Analog Soul’ ends this quality EP in fine style, proving why this influential artist is still in such high demand.
