Incidental music from Euripides' Hippolytus

This cue accompanies Artemis' sudden epiphany, announced by the same gong that introduces Aphrodite's. I co-wrote it with my friend Nicole De Marco: the first part is my interpretation of her theme for the goddess. She also composed and performed the guitar solo, to which I added some orchestral background.

Goddess Of The Hunt. Artemis aria, sang by Victoria Pym

EOS was the rosy-fingered goddess of the dawn. She and her siblings Helios (the Sun) and Selene (the Moon) were numbered amongst the second-generation Titan gods. Eos rose up into the sky from the river Okeanos at the start of each day, and with her rays of light dispersed the mists of night. She was sometimes depicted riding in a golden chariot drawn by winged horses, at other times she was shown borne aloft by her own pair of wings. Eos had an unquenchable desire for handsome young men, some say as the result of a curse laid upon her by the goddess Aphrodite. Her lovers included Orion, Phaethon, Kephalos and Tithonos, three of which she ravished away to distant lands. The Trojan prince Tithonos became her official consort. When the goddess petitioned Zeus for his immortality, she neglected also to request eternal youth. In time he shrivelled up by old age and transformed into a grasshopper.

Eos was closely identified with Hemera, the primordial goddess of day. In some myths--such as the tales of Orion and Kephalos--Eos stood virtually as a non-virginal substitute for Artemis.

Aether or Aither (Æthere, Ancient Greek: Αἰθήρ, pronounced [aitʰɛ̌ːr]), in ancient Greece, was one of the primordial deities. Aether is the personification of the upper air.[1] He embodies the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air (ἀήρ, aer) breathed by mortals. Like Tartarus and Erebus, Aether may have had shrines in ancient Greece, but he had no temples and it is unlikely that he had a cult.

Eikona - Artemis

Composed for a popular Tabletop Gaming Platform. Project was to play when a character entered a large tent (Kind of depicting the Xerces Tent scene from the movie 300) Where there was debauchery and sinful acts taking place. 

Track was meant to add tension and atmosphere to the playing experience.

Project realised using only found sounds for a DXARTS class, on the theme: nature/machine.

The natural world, in its most classical representation, would be of a forest, populated by nymphs and birds. But it is endangered by dark mechanical forces and eventually has to flee before the habitat is destroyed. In a sense, I wanted to relate this to the Greek goddess Artemis, virgin hunter who kills men who enter their territory but who remains completely vulnerable to the strength of industrial engines, like her emblem the deer

A BRIGÀ - ARTEMISIA, LE ALPI DEL MARE. 2012
Per la scelta del brano abbiamo attinto dalle registrazioni effettuate da Giorgio Nataletti nel 62, 65 e 66 (affiancato nell’ultima parte della ricerca da Paul Collaer), condotte in Liguria di Ponente per conto del Centro Nazionale Studi di Musica Popolare. La ricerca la troviamo raccolta per Squi(libri) Editori in “Musiche tradizionali del Ponente Ligure. Le registrazioni di Giorgio Nataletti e Collaer (1962, 1965, 1966), a cura di M. Balma e G. d’Angiolini”. Il canto è stato raccolto a Pigna, comune in provincia di Imperia situato nella parte montana dell’Alta Val Nervia. Abbiamo voluto vestire i difficili gusti di Artemisia con un valzer ampére, in 5 tempi.

In ancient Greece, amongst many other cultures, Goddesses like Rhea, Artemis, Cybele and Demeter were characterized as Bee Goddesses. Their priestesses were called "Melissae" which is Greek for "honeybees" because they served the Bee Goddess.

Another song that is part of my "Of Myth and Beauty" album. This is the fourth reincarnation of this song...mainly because I love it so much. The first instance came about in 1997 or so? (Called "The Hunt") Then I rewrote it using my Korg last year and then did a remix of it. You can find those on the Cloud here as well. 

Now it has been reborn again as "The Huntress" my tribute to Artemis, who was the Greek Goddess of the moon, the hunt, and the forests.
