The end of July is etched in the minds of every Coldharbour Citizen, as they unite annually to celebrate Markus Schulz and Coldharbour Recordings’ storied journey in grand fashion.

And on the day the label celebrates its 10th anniversary, we at Coldharbour are very proud to showcase some of the world’s most talented producers to the world on such a regular basis.

As a special thank you to the fans, Markus unites once again with GDJB broadcast partner and our close friends at Afterhours.fm, to bring you an enormous radio marathon on Monday July 28th – 36 hours of sets from 30 members of the Coldharbour family – including a special exclusive 5 hour set from the master himself.

Coldharbour invites you to join in the celebrations, as they reflect on the best moments throughout the label’s history, enjoying the current summer offerings, and glimpsing into what the future has in store.

Premiere: Human Machine '146'

One of New York’s finest in the mix.

Fred P has been holding it down for the Big Apple’s house scene for over a decade, originally under the name Black Jazz Consortium but also as Fred P and a series of other aliases (among them Anomaly and FP197). Early press around Fred tied him in with a revival of sorts in the New York house community, but although there’s clear links – both musically and personally – to the likes of Jus Ed and DJ Qu, there’s a subtle virtuosity and eccentricity to Fred’s records that makes him his own man, even at their most simple. It’s telling that he’s not content to release singles: between Fred P and Black Jazz Consortium he’s released five albums since 2007, most recently working with Tokyo label Mule Musiq on his fifth, simply titled 5.

Fred’s FACT mix was recorded at Berlin’s Dark Flow studios. “I used two Technics 1200s and one CDJ for the last track, and a Pioneer mixer and effects module,” he tells us. “There was no method really, just weeks of pulling records to find the right ones that capture a particular vibe. I hope everyone enjoys this mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect in its imperfection thus making it timeless. Peace, love and respect.”

Schallfeld is wideness – furrow by furrow and line by line is passing by when paths are merging and diverging in one single moment.

The paths of the two Schallfeld members (Philip and Jörg) are both children of the 80's. First merged in 2008 in Halle and diverged again until in 2015 Schallfeld was created. In the years before Philip, Erfurt-born PhD student of biology, was caught by the rising ElectroSwing-wave and as DJ started participating the Hallish club culture. Jörg, originating from a German Rap Project discovered his passion for the minimal sound of the 2000's and founded a live electronic project with two musician-friends. In the following years both projects showed up in various German cities like Halle, Leipzig, Berlin, Erfurt and others - and sometimes also at the same party as following acts. Paths merge and diverge.

When in winter 2013/14 a new studio merged various musicians and projects together, the two met again and soon found a common interest about tech-sounds in all their simplicity and complexity. In spring 2015 they started producing first demo tracks and first sessions and half a year later a first release was dropped. By now EPs for the Berlin-situated labels Grossstadtvögel and Finn Records were published and several EPs are already planned to come out in the summer and autum of 2016.
