This November will see the Little Helpers imprint mark a milestone two hundred releases with a sixtrack EP from Alexi Delano & Butane.

The Little Helpers imprint was launched in 2009 by Andrew Rasse aka Butane and Sean O’Neal aka Someone Else and since its inception has broken countless up-and-coming artists to the scene, as well as releasing material from heavy hitters such as Ryan Crosson, Tim Xavier, Mark Henning, Flashmob, and more. Here we see the label mark a momentous two hundred releases with label co-founder Butane pairing up with Alexi Delano for a fresh collaborative EP.

The release consists of six finely-tuned technoid tracks, a unique psychedelic style for which Butane and Alexi's collaborations have become famous. The opening track kicks things off on a slow burning, hypnotic tip with bumpy drums, vacillating synth swirls and rounded sub bass tones. ‘200-2’ follows and brings a shuffley rhythm, hooky bass stabs and eerie modulating atmosphere, while ‘200-3’ lays down a broken, lo-fi feel with distorted percussion, resonant pad sweeps and a spooky, heads down afterhours vibe.

Track number four turns the corner to the latter half of the release, and sees the pair bring the energy level up with a penetrating acid tinged bass line, sparse drums and dubbed out winding synth swells. Little Helper ‘200-5’ retains that familiar psychedelic vibe, laying the focus here on mind bending atmosphere and everunfolding percussive elements. Lastly, ‘200-6’ brings the energy up to peak level for one last dance, and sees the duo tease out a freaky square wave bass and jacking percussion to shape up the package brilliantly. 

Eschewing cheap tricks, the pair focus on skillful arrangements and a nuts-and-bolts approach to technobuilding to deliver a wicked statement on DJ-friendly tunes. Alexi Delano & Butane’s ‘Little Helpers 200’ is out on Little Helpers 3rd November 2015.

Storied producer Patrick Chardronnet helms the latest release on Lucidflow with a diverse array of tracks backed by a Klartraum remix. Patrick barely needs an introduction but, for those catching up, his appearances include Bedrock Records, Connaisseur Recordings, Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat. In essence, it is quite the résumé. 

Relishing the chance to flex some dub muscles across three tracks, 'Dub Of Aces' (lyrics: Aero Manyelo) offers something for everyone. The title track itself is a low key house track, taking things into smoked out territories by having the tempo of its elements. 'Traces' is a main room agitating piece of techno, rolling in like a distant storm before taking absolute command with machine driven precision. Then we are taken home with the downtempo 'Miqio', exercising some choice lofi analogue percussion before smothing the track in layers of resonance and hypnotism. 

Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritch then step up and demonstrate their many years of production nous on their rework of 'Dub Of Aces'. Returning the favour for Patrick's remix of 'Grinsekatze' from their 2018 album 'Void Universes' their touch on 'Dub Of Aces' is deft, bringing the half time elements up to speed, but introducing percussion that is deliciously human in delivery, with every micro-fraction away from the quantized beat is a delicious morsel for the soul. 
'Dub Of Aces' is out on 02.09.19 from all the usual digital stockists.
