DyAD, originally a partnership between Dan Charles and the late Matt Yemm, was a modest yet passionate presence in the UK's dubstep scene. Their work, characterized by a genuine love for the genre, led to releases on labels like Abyssal Audio, Sub:Concious, Mindstep, and Pressed Records. T

hey enjoyed a niche following, thanks to their distinctive approach to dubstep, blending dancefloor energy with deeper, more introspective compositions. 

Their music found its way onto popular blogs like FatKidOnFire and KeepDeep (EDM.com), and remixes such as Matt U's “Danger” and Sick ft. Talabun's “Virus” resonated within the underground community.

The duo's dedication also shone through in live performances, notably their energetic set on GetDarker TV 241, which showcased their versatility as both producers and DJs. This appearance, along with their creative output, caught the attention of M.U.D, a label known for its commitment to quality dubstep.

However, the journey took a pause in 2017 with the passing of Matt Yemm, leading to a period of reflection for Dan. During this time, the DyAD project was put on hold, as Dan navigated through his loss and reconsidered his path in music.

In 2023, Dan re-emerged with a refreshed outlook. With no intentions of chasing the previous heights or conforming to the music industry's demands, he has shifted focus towards the sheer enjoyment of music creation and fostering connections within the community. 

This new phase is less about accolades or recognition and more about engaging with music in a way that feels true to him and honors the spirit of DyAD.

Dan's current work as DyAD is an invitation to explore music without expectations, a journey that values creativity and community above all else. 

While the project's scale may be modest, the passion behind it remains as vibrant as ever. Dan's approach today reflects a blend of homage to the past and excitement for the simple joy of making music.
