2021 and another year done… omicron surging through my veins as i write this. Man, every year we ask the team to send us their tracks at Halloween and every year we’re chopping and changing moments before launch. But that’s how it’s gotta be and that’s what’s so vital about this series, now in its 12th year. This never gets more relaxed. We should probably be spending this time of year chilling out and reflecting on what’s coming over the horizon but vinyl lead times already got us making records for July. It’s like the digital and the physical world are pulling further and further apart. 

We hope you love this compilation as much as we do. Thanks to the artists and everyone involved in getting this together. Special shout out to Scott Pilgrim, Leo Martin, Issac Larose and Emmanuel Mauriès-Rinfret  for their images and code. Cameron Morse, Abdullah Al Wali, Albert Carter Philips and Jennifer Metcalf. Since releasing his last studio album, Dawn Chorus, in 2019 - JG has scored the short film Exhaust starring Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), Glenn Kaino's installation piece Tidepools (alongside Nosaj Thing) and the video game Homeschool. He released remixes for artists suchs as Para One, DC Salas, Amtrac, Kllo, Elohim, Kacy Hill and Montreal disco legends Lime. In 2020 he made headlines for creating Promise - the first single released with associated NFT that staked the owner to music publishing. In 2021 Greene released ANTH01, a reissue compiling his first few years of releases across various labels, alongside unheard tracks from the era. Alongside Joel Ford, Leanne Macomber, Satomi Image and Noah Baker, Fantasy is the next step for an artist who continues to mature. As Pitchfork stated “A decade since he released his first EP, he’s still finding new paths to euphoria." Further "Jacques Greene just might abandon dance music altogether—but for now, it’s a form that he continues to reshape in his own way with each new release.”
