Mila Stern’s far over a decade-long career as a DJ and producer has taken her from squat parties in Halle (eastern Germany), where she first learned her craft, through the pulsing motley of Tel Aviv, to her adopted home of Berlin and the epicenter of electronic club culture. Her calm, commanding skill as a selector rapidly made her a sought-after artist, with regular appearances at premier festivals like Fusion, Nation of Gondwana, and Garbicz, and residencies at Berlin’s legendary Kater Club and Station Endlos in Halle. Since then, she’s transcended the boundaries of the Berlin underground, bringing her signature style to the international circuit from Mexico to Kazakhstan.

Berlin Techno 024 - Mila Stern

This was my debut in Thailand! 

It was such an honor to share my music with this iconic brand reimagined in paradise. Knowing that the same stage has hosted legends like Carl Cox, Kölsch, Ben Böhmer, Eelke Kleijn, Damian Lazarus, and Jamie Jones made me feel even more grateful for this opportunity.

Sometimes, things happen that you couldn’t foresee. The story behind these tracks is that I had actually forgotten about them, and while cleaning up, I stumbled upon these pieces made in 2023. Well, I just remastered them and here they are now, seeing the light of day years later.

Musically, it leans again towards neoclassicism, orchesdrone, guitar and cello here. But actually, it’s very subtle and my signature sound is very present. Just listen for yourself.

Played a vintage, GDR era, analog string synth (Vermona Piano-Strings) with some keys taped down to free my hands. Sent it through a filter bank emphasizing the vocal formants and then into a legendary phaser pedal with wooden cheeks. Accompanied by Moog Subharmonicon and a simple bass patch on the modular synth.
