This track is my first time playing with the space in such a pretty advanced way, I really think of my instruments like little dancers across the stage of our auditory space, notice the elements having their own location and their movement. I love the way they all respond to each other. I also proudly EQd the f**k out of this song so it sounds lowkey HiFi; except my voice, I waged war against my USB microphone and reverberating bedroom and they won. It's okay, I'll remix it when I have better equipment !

This is the second song I've made for my Elements album which explores translating the sensation of different elements into experimental electronic music. I was inspired by a windy adventure, I think flutes + G major really tied it all together !! Also the kicks are me blowing into the mic !

Worked on this for 50 hours, wow !

Forty years since its creation, Jon Hassell's Fourth World aesthetic remains a powerful influence on modern electronic music. Continuing his lifelong exploration of the possibilities of recombination and musical gene-splicing, fragments of performance are sampled, looped, overdubbed and re-arranged into beguiling unexpected shapes. Hassell applies the painterly technique of ‘pentimento’ to the arrangements, teasing out texture by the overlaying of sound upon sound, or a carefully timed reveal of the delicate bones pinning the frame of a track together.

The release of this new album also sees the launch of Jon’s own label, Ndeya (pronounced “in-day-ya”), which will be a home for new work as well as well as selected archival releases, including re-presses of classic sides and some astonishing unreleased music.
