Music has always fascinated me. Since I’m a child I've always dealt intensively with music across many genres. Whether it was punk, indie, synth-pop, psy-rock or rap. Electronic dance music, especially techno, captivated me in a very special way for several reasons. It creates an atmosphere over a longer period of time that can tell whole stories, no mere stringing of songs with pauses in between – one thing I love about DJing. Plus, of course, come together and dance in beautiful spaces that I've experienced in countless club nights in Berlin.

For my current style of DJing, I’m focusing on a high tempo, a rolling yet precise beat and a selection of driving and hypnotic as well as some sort of groovy sounds, which can also be found in this mix.

In addition to my solo project as Nona, I'm also part of re:flect, a multidiscilinary music and art collective that just has been founded and is gonna start on the 10th of June. So stay tuned ;)
Furthermore I'm one half of the DJ-duo Xonic.

For me, techno is not just about DJing and dancing, it's political. It offered and is still offering opportunities to create places of freedom of expression where alternative cultures and identities come together creating new spaces of experience that the world urgently needs. Time is running...and it seems like we just woke up out of our interstellar sleep-mode as we are facing the arrival of the 14th edition of the almighty COCOON RECORDINGS COMPILATION. Starting with the letter "A" we reached "N" meanwhile which probably marks one of the longest running techno compilation series ever around. The list of the featured artists is amazing and almost endless. Big names like Funk D'Void, Alter Ego, Michael Mayer, Steve Bug, DJ Rush, Adam Port, Christian Smith, Nina Kravitz, Henrik Schwarz or Argy can be found here. Not to forget some of the biggest players in the circus like Sven Väth, Anthony Rother, Extrawelt, Timo Mass, Radio Slave or Ricardo Villalobos, DJ Koze, Dubfire and even Berlin's Basic Channel mastermind Moritz Von Oswald.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

M_Rec Ltd continues to ascend as one of the the most interesting labels in the techno scene. Today's release sees Giorgio Gigli (Prologue Music, Zooloft, Electric Deluxe, Elettronica Romana, etc.) sign two original tracks and a remix of one of the most important artists of the past few years: Terence Fixmer (Electric Deluxe, Prologue Music, etc.). Together, their approach creates something special and unique. In its original track Giorgio Gigli delivers the best of its hypnotic and psychedelic techno. A great atmosphere, where the ambient pads meet the dark bass sound which made Giorgio one of the most significant artists in the new techno scene. The side closes with an ambient session; a drone of pure electronic,dark synth, making the idea of the state of mind of his own individual unconscious.Terence Fixmer's version is decidedly more rough, stripped of certain atmospheres, highlighting a more hypnotic and repetitive attitude. This rough sounds have for many years marked Terence Fixmer as an icon of the techno world. 
This is a great release of modern techno!

The split EP ‘Transmitting Coordinates’ comprises the efforts of Uun, whose roots lay in Kansas (USA), and Argentina’s Vladw – the former a familiar face, the latter a newcomer to the label. While the physical distance between their home bases couldn’t have been much bigger, their visions of techno and the mature sound it results in in both their tracks, are about as close as it gets. The similarities in this piece of present-day techno go beyond repetitiveness: both artists exceed at the use of glitchy tops blended with tight low ends, and letting those evolve so gradually that it nearly goes unnoticed. It results in these four solid cuts that need nothing but their comprehensive grooves to stay fascinating. One can only hope that somewhere in the future, the work of Uun and Vladw will find its way to many more EP’s like these.

Lucy is the nom de techno of Italian-born and Berlin-based Luca Mortellaro, one of the genre’s most exciting and ambitious DJ/producers. Since 2009, Mortellaro has focused his work through his own Stroboscopic Artefacts label, building an imprint and personal discography that has established itself as one of techno’s finest.
Lucy (née Luca Mortellaro) is one of the pre-eminent sonic adventurers of his time. Not bound to conventional pre-conceptions of what an electronic musician, producer, or DJ must be, Lucy has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology.
