It has been a deep and inundating experience to record on this particular day, but this track would best express our true feelings and claim the mind with a somber but dignified mood. If you feel uncomfortable with that, then don't be such a pussy.

Pico Bello

This homerecorded track is probably the most groovy one of them all... listeners will discover great original licks in this piece of experimental/prototypical freeflow music and know that this is a unique composition made without preparation, is non-reproducable and made with amateur equipment. 

I am very proud of the bassline, because the build-up leads to some very satisfying flourishes and new deeply grooving licks, devised in the heat of the moment; revisited as we eplore the recordings from the last ten years. 

This piece is as solid as it gets and I challange every bassplayer worth his salt to practice some of the cool licks in the second half and record them. That would be pretty impressive to pull off. I'd love to hear people try that... I sure can't do it.. I can only do it perfectly the first time, but I do that without remembering what I've played. 

It might seem like one big bass solo, but the paterns steadily expand, allowing more room for the climax to develope, which is when the listener's attention normally peaks and the complexity matches the pattern laid in advance by the groovy build up; after which the intensity has to come down again; ending in a neat little wrap up.

Blue Note Magnum Opus

This track was created for the pianist's gf, cause she had a headache and asked us to stop playing our crazy music, so we made this especially to appease her, a delicate little flower that had to be appeased, for us to hold claim to our regular night of recording our music. It worked. The track turned out exactly how it was supposed to and the musicianship in this work is just phenomenal in how these two instruments can touch someone's soul without being overwhelming or alien to regular people. People that never developed any musical skillsets, should still be able to appreciate what we've done here, for it can literally be used to help an infant fall asleep when it seems to be distressed at night. Trust me. It works.

Unicorn to the Max

A real freak out bassline with lots of variation, kept on track by the old school organ sound from the keys and a steady beat. It's not flawless, but the energy we put in this track makes for impressive fast paced solo work on thee bass guitar and don't forget that none of it is rehearsed, but recorded in one go without any preparation other than agreeing perhaps on a key or a genre for the track, but the rest is all muscle memory and playing by feeling instead of memory. 

You have to learn this and it takes time. The first ten years I played mostly by memory, which gave me solid foundation of muscle memory; activated as soon as I plug in and feel the deep vibrations going through my body and mind, while my hands always seem to know where all the right notes are, making sollutions come effortlessly...  

Not to brag, I would love to teach our method to people and guide them into the world of freeflow music and how to frame what is played afterwards as I don't register the music when I'm playing in the heat of the moment, but I will discover the structure of the recorded track once I can listen to it.

I'm putting this track back out there, because it is so fucking good. The two bass solo's in the latter part of the song are fenomenal. I wouldn't be able to reproduce it anyway, but I'd like to see someone try actually, because there are so many of these neat little techniques I pull off... all improvised and recorded in one go! Arabic stylo... beautifull music, I recomend it to all music lovers... it is a new realm you will discover.. a passionate recording with two solo's that stand out above all others with their complex emotional charge and serve as an example of how true genius can arrise when a master just lets go and joins the flow of creativeness, not playing what he knows, instead to discover new forms of music that nobody has even tried to play before, until someone did and recorded it!

True Vibe Gold

*Introduction:*
We are Ludo Loco, an Experimental Independent Improvisation Ensemble from Leiden, the Netherlands. 
We are an ensemble with Jeroen Keereweer on the keyboard and Robert Veltema on the bass guitar.
Ludo means, in Latin: to Play/Mock/Tease/Trick and Loco just means: Crazy, Mad or Insane, in Spanish. When you listen to our music you'll understand why that is our band's name. '

*The Ludo Loco Way of Making music:*
Hi, I'm Robert from Ludo Loco and I would like to tell you about the Ludo Loco methods of how we make our music and why the end result is always unique and original. 
All of our songs, already over 160 tracks, have only ever been played once and  this is always recorded on a computer. We are not capable of any reproduction of our tracks. In fact, in my case after I finish playing the bass part, I usually have no idea what I have just played and I have listen to the recording to realize if it was any good, authentic, original, but above all, doesn't contain any ugly errors that would ruin the whole track.

We usually need two takes, because there's only two of us and we usually want: bass, keys, drums (keyboard drumming) and sometimes an electric guitar. So the second take is usually the keys, if the bass and drums were laid down first. Sometimes we record piano and bass simultaneously, which often results in very sensitively played music with a lot of emotion poured in it from our inner muses.
 
We have the skills to create music in the heat of the moment, without it being erratic, random or filled with errors. It has to be great on the first try. Though we do have nights were we really suck, but those tracks we just discard and we move on.

I honestly haven't heard any other ensembles or bands that come close to our unique Ludo Loco Sound, or that match our Playing Style.
So, everything is improvised and because we've played together so much in our lives, we respond very well and immediate to each other, as the song evolves and grooves into different intensities, building up, playing variations, climaxing, bringing it down eventually with a proper ending. 

I think that if people know their instrument very well and have become bored with playing fixed songs and don't like rehearsing the same tracks over and over (like I was), they could learn how to cast off these chains of regular, written music, and develop the skill of playing by feeling only, while still being able to implement a song structure while you record it. I say people who know their instrument very well, because you need the muscle memory to help you guide your improvised track.

At least for me, this way of creating spontaneous, authentic, original music, is way more fun than practicing with a band and getting it all perfectly memorized. 
I use that space in my brain; from not memorizing anything; for allowing me to play with a lot of feeling and be creative, but also critical of how I sound, whether it is nice to listen to, whether I'm playing something totally new. Just monitoring myself and directing the creative process mentally into the next phrase of a song. I love when I make it sound cool and groovy, so that's what I usually prime my head for and for the rest it's just about having great fun with playing my part. 

In all, I have yet to hear anything anywhere that compares to our music style. I would love to know about others who make music this way. When you talk about improvising, people automatically think of Jazz, but with Jazz you have to know the standards and you're kind of only allowed to improvise over a standard from the real book. Jazz is kind of weird like that. 

We use freedom of expression to the max and I feel like we are doing something good, but also very rare... It's definitely not mainstream music, but as a niche, there's still many people who will enjoy our music and if we can find a way to reach these people, then we will be enriching their lives with something that I feel is very special.
