My performance was recorded using Notion 4 software, utilizing Vienna Symphony Library sampled sounds. Each of the five parts was performed individually and stored within Notion 4.

"The Four Seasons" (Concerto #4) was composed by Antonio Vivaldi in 1723, therefore the music is in the public domain. The music is performed by myself and therefore no copyright or royalty claims can legally be challenged.

Since a teenager, I have always loved Strauss' "Blue Danube" waltz. The slow intro with tremolo strings and haunting horn melody can send shivers up my spine, give me goosebumps, and cause my eyes to slightly tear up. Perhaps previous life or just the way Strauss writes? Who knows.

This is performed with sounds from the Vienna Symphonic Library, utilizing Notion 5 software. This project so far took a good part of three days to complete.

This is only a sketch, still has imperfections. I will again resume this project at a later date when I have a LOT more time on my hands.

The Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz (sketch/test track of intro only)

One of my favorite Rossini overtures. The first time I heard it was in Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange."

As with my other projects, they are partial and unfinished with tempi, balance and dynamic issues, but wanted to share it.

ROSSINI: Overture to "La Gazza Ladra" (Fragment / Test Track)

It was December 1970, the bicentennial of Beethoven's birth and my Junior High band director, Goldie Marrs brought in a birthday cake for the occasion. I asked her if the theme from NBC's "Huntley Brinkley Report" was by Beethoven. She did some research and reported back that it was indeed Beethoven and it was the second movement of his Ninth Symphony.
The following year, my Grandparents gave me an LP of the symphony performed by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra (I still have the vinyl). That was my introduction to classical music and a lifetime of pure enjoyment.

This recording is another test track that I hope to complete some day utilizing Notion software along with sampled orchestral instruments from the Vienna Symphonic Library.

I'd like to thank both Goldie and Donald Marrs for encouraging my appreciation of classical music!

Recently starting watching "Mozart in the Jungle" and noticed this movement of the Beethoven 9th partially shows up within the first five minutes of the pilot episode (unfortunately not my performance).

This is probably the most lyrical movements of any of Beethoven's orchestral pieces. There is also a partial test track of the second movement on my page as well. I certainly cannot do justice to this, but it is a feeble attempt.

Like the other pieces on SoundCloud and my own website (www.sladovich.com), they were performed using Persons’ Notion software along with sampled orchestral instruments from the Vienna Symphonic Library.

Leo Delibes Pizzzicati from "Sylvia"

If you're a Disney fan, you'll recognize this piece from the hippo and alligator sequence from "Fantasia." The theme was also used in Allan Sherman's classic "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" (Camp Granada).

PONCHIELLI - Dance Of The Hours ("La Gioconda")

The famed William Tell Overture.

The overture is in four parts:
1. Dawn: Slow passage for five solo cellos and double-basses. You'll hear a hint of timpani representing an impending storm, along with staccato woodwinds depicting raindrops.

-2. Storm: Full use of orchestra for a thunderstorm.

3. Pastorale: You'll recognize this being parodied/quoted in cartoons and movies and usually depicted for dawn for some reason.  Solos with English Horn and Flute plus accompanying pizzicato in the string section.

4. March of the Swiss Soldiers: A "gallop" representing the victorious battle to liberate the Swiss homeland from Austrian repression. You'll recognize it as the theme to "The Lone Ranger."

Note that ht overture starts out VERY soft; the thunderstorm is VERY loud; the Pastorale is very soft and the March of the Swiss Soldiers can get VERY loud... so keep your fingers on the volume to adjust if needed. "Hiho Silver!" ;-)

VERDI - La Donna E Mobile ("Rigoletto")

Likely the best known work in classical music. Associated with Victory and Fate knocking at the door.

This work was so revolutionary. The first four notes or rhythm appears countless times in the first movement alone. Additionally, it appears in the remaining three movements in some fashion.

This work was performed by me using Notion 6 by Presonus and the Vienna Instruments library (digitally sampled instruments). This version is not quite final, there are still some rough edges that need to be addressed.

MOZART - THe Marriage Of Figaro Overture - 30JUL2018

Most folks' favorite variation of this work is "Nimrod." I fell in love with it when I performed a concert band arrangement of it back in the early 70s. It's such a powerful piece, I cannot hope to do justice to it, but posting for you to enjoy.

Elgar - Enigma Variations ("Nimrod")

An iconic overture and likely the best known overture to an opera. Many may recall a Bugs Bunny cartoon with Elmer Fudd where they used this composition.

The Andante from Papa Haydn's well-known "Surprise" symphony is a simple, but fun piece. Historically it was claimed Haydn added the fortissimo to wake up the audience, however, that has been disproven.

An initial draft of the first movement of the mighty Beethoven 9th Symphony (Choral). The first piece of classical music I ever fell in love with.  In the coming year, I hope to complete the first movement. Note all dynamics etc. have not been finalized.

The second and third movement projects were abandoned, but the drafts are on SoundCloud as well. All three projects were input/performed using Presonus' Notion 6, utilizing orchestral samples from the Vienna Symphonic Library.

Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” was adapted from E.T.A. Hoffman’s “the Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” which was premiered in St. Petersburg in December 1892. Interestingly, the first production was not a success, but the suite from the ballet was.  Today, it is a staple of almost all ballet companies.

This performance was captured and programmed using Notion Music software which incorporates the Vienna Instruments Symphonic Library.  The library consists of actual instruments sampled and stored digitally.

Each instrument is programmed and performed with Notion one instrument and phrase at a time until the entire orchestral score is performed. Dynamics, tempo, etc. are also tweaked in Notion and saved, then saved as a digital audio file.

Compared to Beethoven’s mighty Ninth Symphony, the Eighth is a rather light and, in my opinion a bit light-hearted, despite the drama going in the composer’s life at the time. Despite the popularity of the Seventh Symphony, Beethoven considered the Eighth to be a better composition.
 This is the  first performance where I used Vienna Symphonic Library’s MirX “Konzerthaus Großer Saal” reverb add-on.

Beethoven Symphony No. 8 (Second Movement) Allegretto Scherzando

The general consensus is that Haydn is highly under appreciated. I totally agree! He solidified the sonata form, created or mastered the string quartet and symphony.

Haydn's sense of humor and wit shines throughout this last movement. Sudden halts, interruptions by the timpani. Just plain fun!

I have movements from other symphonies in mind and will get to them after I get a head start on several movements from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker."

Haydn’s 88th symphony was completed in 1787. It’s not part of his Paris or London symphonies, but is rather well-known amongst his greatest admired.

Haydn’s 90th symphony was completed in 1788. This 4th movement is my favorite of all his symphonies. Listen through to the end of the performance (total time about five and a half minutes), but pay attention and keep listening at a little before the four minute mark for a fun surprise. It has been known to trip up audiences at live performances. Have fun listening!

Have always wanted to conduct an orchestra. Had my chance during a soloist competition in college as a freshman and made it past the first round, sadly not the second.

The next best thing to conducting an orchestra is to acquire DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) some MIDI software and sampled orchestral instruments. The sampled orchestral instruments used are from the Vienna Symphonic Library.

This time-consuming process requires the performance of each instrument and part, one by one and usually by phrase or phrases, so we're looking at a minimum orchestra example of of about 16 parts.

Whenever I get some free time, I'll devote several hours at a time to lay down and clean up tracks.  Hopefully will have more completed works as the years go by.
