Airy whisper 22-10-2009

An audio response by a Central American Kamal Ortiz (@k-k-mal-willis-ortiz) to living in the forest of Aotearoa, based on the painting “Waitakere Canopy” by Leah Wilson, as part of the Whau Arts Festival 2020.

Usually weaving the rhythms and traditions of Latin American folk with modern electronic music, here the bassline is replaced with tuning forks, the mid-tones with field recordings, and lead vocals with flute and birdsong. This mix is music for rest and relaxation, yoga and meditation.  Headphones recommended.

Intended to create transcendental experiences based on over a decade of following a meditation practice, these sound journeys find audiences at ecstatic dance events, yoga and meditation sessions, and the occasional summer festival. Enjoy.

Simone Vitale is a sound therapy teacher and practitioner and a visionary musician. Since 2002, he's been deepening his understanding of the effects and healing potential of sound and music. He is now dedicating his work to promoting an ecology of sound in which kindness and mindfulness are the keys to a deeper connection with ourselves and each other.
Simone offers individual sound therapy sessions with a focus on the use of tuning forks and metal singing bowls and teaches sound therapy both online and in person.
