The longer they play the more interesting it becomes and like always we gave them a three hour set during our Amsterdam Dance Event together.

Enjoy and tell us what you think. Even though we pick up on the deep and dark sound of the two, it also picks up the pace. Unlike Geju? Or did we enter a new period of time for these supertalent.

This mixtape was created by the idea to show this amazing music from the 70s of mainly the eastern europe, focused on the states which are involved into this terrible war. I tried to bring my very favorites together. Make yourselfe a image about how beatiful and full of love this pieces are made off.
I'm using the term "Drushba" here, a old word which was used a greeting formula between people of the soviet countrys. I'm aware that this word was used as a propaganda tool, trivialize the facts of the russian repression of the countrys of the soviet union. 
I want to rewrite and re-strengthen the word Drushba naming my mix like this, which is filled with this amazing music from the soviet borther states, showing how equal any of this states was producing such lovely vibes.
I have collected some of these tracks over the past years, some of them are from vinyl, others are from my good old mp3 library.

I don’t think I’ve ever been as nervous and anxious prior to a performance than on that day. Something about a much bigger crowd than my first time, knowing that there will be dance floor full of DJs, as well as me overthinking and over engineering this set, sent me down an anxiety spiral a few hours out. Top tip: turns out a bit of food and hydration does wonders.  

The intro to this set was meant to include a dance performance stint. Dressed as an over expressive opera singer, I had planned to transform into a muchacho with moustache and all. Turns out the Studebaker stage at Lucky Star was PACKED. There was absolutely no room for dancing in front of the DJ booth, which was likely a combination of the time of the day, it pouring down heavily with rain and this stage being one of the very few covered one’s. Aaaaand a big crew showing up to hold my hand (*thank you*). So the dance performance, undressing and moustache application had to happen in the privacy of the DJ booth which was…surprise, surprise….a Studebaker vehicle. My alter ego Lurky Bertie decided to take everyone on a ride, go a little all over the show, sprinkling in some classics, before taking the dance floor dwellers down the good ol DirdyGerdi path of chunky hip thrust motivating tunes. Trying to keep it sexy at all times. 

Shout out to the massive group therapy crew support right in front of my eyes. It made navigating my second public set so much more of a breeze.
Thank you so so so much to Mels & Jonas for providing their unparalleled lush Lucky Star grounds for the next best mini festival stage at Splore…and having me play for your guests! Thank you so so much to Sarah Bronte (@msbronte), Jake Rattler (@jakerattler) and Joss (@voidvalkernz) for adding me to the lineup at an absolutely stellar time, appreciate you trusting me with this task and being so incredibly supportive. I love this crew very much and still pinch myself about how lucky I am to be part of this community.

Now enough blah blah, enjoy this little piece of rerecorded set - cause yeah we are still no good of remembering to press record and oh no I still messed up some transitions here and there. Cheers to my inner critic and perfectionist who has to bear through this journey with me. X

2020 has been an eye opening year, revealing many things about our friends, family, and ourselves. One such thing I've noticed is how we all live in our own little bubbles.  All our connections, people we associate with, brands and companies we like and follow on social media, everything so rapidly consumed and absorbed day in and day out, it is only now in confinement where I've become more aware of this....

On a semi-related side note,  I'm a huge basketball fan. Any of my close friends would know this, so I've been ecstatic that the NBA has returned. Each player is living inside a literal bubble give the Pandemic. This basketball bubble has had my full attention these last 2 weeks... so I found it quite funny and a fantastic coincidence that a fellow DJ and Tony @aka_tony came to me with a LOST mix idea with the theme of "BUBBLES," Soap bubbles to be exact.  Thomas Williams alias @aka_tony started out as a DJ in Switzerland in the last century. I discovered him since he's played a few of my tracks in his mixes (thanks bud).  Since 2018 he spreads love and nice tunes as a resident at Radio GDS.FM in Zurich, where he has his own broadcasting slot. With Aka-Tapes Thomas runs his own podcast blog on Soundcloud. In the last couple of months he has crafted various podcasts for different channels around the globe. 

I was curious, so I asked him, how did this theme originate? His response was:

"After an eventful, beautiful and challenging decade in which people seemed to have found peace, determination and clarity, the situation changed abruptly. Almost from one day to the next, uncertainty, great challenges and suspicion returned. Everything and anything was questioned and the most adventurous theories made the rounds. People soon no longer knew who was friend or foe. Information was interpreted in a way that always protected their own interests. Objectivity and attentiveness were lost. To deal with this situation, creative people discovered the concept of the soap bubble. Soap bubbles with which one could wrap all the abstruse theories and theorists and gently send them on a journey of knowledge. So they discovered that the earth was not a flat disk after all and said also goodbye to many other absurd theories. So if you are desperate about all the uncertainties that will challenge you in the present and the near future, this mix will help you to wrap gruesome ideas and concepts into a soap bubble and send them on the much needed journey of knowledge."

I don't even know when exactly I heard a mix from him for the first time. It must have been 3 or even 4 years ago, it was https://soundcloud.com/ldsroom 's channel and I was impressed by his Shift II mix. I lost sight of him and didn't look for him either - too many fish swim in the ocean and the captain likes to lose his leg or even one or the other artist out of sight. Well, once again I was browsing through LDS's history and heard YEM's mix sets "cruel" and "Timberland" 3 or 2 years ago and was thrilled again. I don't know exactly what it is, but YEM grabs me with the way he sets up the mix sets. Anyway, A lot of water flowed into the sea and it took another 2 years before we got together ... For many is a 4 hours set a lot of time, for others it is a short introduction to their music collection.

I'm just a man who likes listening and collecting music in his mixes.
This time i went back in to the tunes of past few years and compilated a set of  those that are still Music to my ears. Suspect that this type of flow was considered to be called "Deep". So let us try to dive back and reminisce how it sounded. Most of the tracks should be recognizable, but since it turned out that I was the person who pressed the buttons and twisted the knobs while recording, some stylistic interference may be noticed. Hope somebody will find this journey interesting. But that's really not important as much as people's health and peaceful living around our planet.
