During the 2000s, Philipp has thrown some forward-looking dances with his old buddy Vladimir Ivkovic in the German Ruhr region. And when Düsseldorf’s shrine for outer-national grooves Salon Des Amateurs opened in 2004, Otterbach became a one of the first residents. Since 2014 he is also out there with his very own sound, releasing EPs on labels like adventurous Dutch label Knekelhuis and is currently working on his first full length album. His sound dances between drone, dub, techno, house and electronics - free-spirited and straight from the ♡

Frank started playing records as a selector in the early ’90s (as DJ Fanta, later DJ Phanta). Musically socialised by the exploding diversity of youth cultures of the mid-late eighties, he never felt bound or commited to a certain scene: Postpunk, Hip Hop, Acid Techno, Chicago House, Electro, EBM, Post Rock, Shoegaze, Breakbeat, Jungle, Hardcore. After the millenium “future-music” like Drum&Bass or IDM lost more and more influence in his sets, making space for a more straight House and Techno approach.  Around 2010, he finally found his musical home as a resident in the Salon des Amateurs: An open „club-not-club“, social space and dancey sweatbox at the same time. A place where music matters and the rules of contemperary DJ-sets are bent.

During production of his latest epic compilation, Frans Æmbient (https://soundcloud.com/kashual-plastik) found some time to create a mix for EDWIN that fuses lo-fi rock oddities, handsome pop wave, abstract electronics and synth-pop classics by current artists like Blod & Miljö from Sweden, XVARR from London and YL Hooi from Australia as well as sung and unsung heroes from the past such as The Human League, Orfeón Gagarin, Bronx Irish Catholics and primitive synth punker Tom Fazzini.

Frans lives in Berlin and is involved in a multitude of art / music projects under a dozen of mysterious aliases. He's also booker, curator and graphik designer for Arkaoda in Berlin. His soul is inked, his mind determined, he's a productive sloth and what I call DIY!
His mix is like a nutty porridge with gritty, lo-fi gems, tears, noir natürlich and a pinch of drama, served with a few spoons of seltsam syrup.
