In this exclusive commentary, Matt Halper and Eli Sones of Two Friends talk through the making of their latest tracks. Reflecting on the making of “Trouble,” they share how they initially were bummed when they lost the vocalist who’d originally signed on for it, but they love the final version, recorded with vocalist maryjo. “You’ve got to roll with the punches,” Matt says. Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Suubi taught himself to play in his bedroom — first in his native Uganda, and then in his new home in Maryland. His debut EP, ‘Casa’s Journal,’ showcases his gentle, introspective R&B. In this exclusive commentary, Suubi discusses the making of key tracks from the project, from the debut single “Growth” (which he shares grew out of a school assignment) to “Changes,” which he says considers “my outlook on my place in life.” The track “Incognizant” was written not long after he arrived in the US, Suubi reflects, sharing how it compares the distance between where he is now, where he came from and where he may belong. In this exclusive commentary, the R&B recording artist and actor (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Superfly”) breaks down key tracks from this latest release. The track “Bleed Next to a Shark” was inspired by a comment an old friend made when Trevor had asked about whether she was dating at the time.
