After the unbridled success that was "Volkwein", Super Flu's collaboration with The Dortmund Philharmonic, the always on point Monberry label now revisits the package with the help of some fine contemporary remixers, namely Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Monkey Safari and Bebetta.

Super Flu, aka Herzblut Recordings regulars and German pair Felix Thielemann & Mathias Schwarz, really conjured up some magic with the original so these remixes, which reinterpret in fine style, are more than welcome.

First up are Kollektiv Turmstrasse, a rare act that infuse their sound with something more - extra soul, depth and meaning. On their remix of the title track, they go for a trademark deep, brooding and slowly unfolding vibe with subtle synth modulations, buried drums and a rising sense of tension.

The curious and off kilter German duo Monkey Safari are up next. First they rework 'Bratzke' with a sensitive sense of touch. Underlapping, rubbery drums roll below churchy and hymnal chords. Softly spoken vocals add intimacy and you can see this one really making for quite a moment on the right dance floor. Secondly, they serve up a digital bonus remix of the same track that makes less use of the vocal and places plenty of emphasis on their lush arrangement and true sense of musicality.

Lastly we have Bebetta, a playful producer who infuses her music with charming melody and a real sense of personality. She has also recently won the Tresor Newcomer Award for her impressive DJ sets around Berlin. Her version of 'Volkwein' is patient and spacious. Glowing harmonically it soothes mind body and soul with playful patterns and clever use of filters.

This EP is an elegant and magical release that proves house music can be so much more than a physical and functional thing, and can instead stir real emotion when in the right hands.

so here it is: our Turmbühnen set. It was something truly special for us to play there. We have been dancing and celebrating there for many many years in the past as guests, even when we started doing music together as umami.
Some of you asked why we didn’t sing live or played so few umami songs. Thats because it was a DJ set and not a live set! Besides, we wanted to play a little different than normally and combine our current style with the way the Turmbühne sounded back when we started to be there.
So a big thank you to everybody who was there and shared this moment with us!

PS There was a misunderstanding between us and the soundguy at the end of the set. We cut that part out because it is annoying to listen to :)

Mobis Hommage an die blaue Stunde - Tiefgang mit Release N°10 oben*unten

Das Label Tiefgang hat sich seit seiner Gründung vor sechs Jahren mit aussergewöhnlichen Aktivitäten in Off-Spaces und Klubs seinen festen Platz in der Berner Kulturszene erarbeitet.

Matthias Gähwiler alias Mobi ist als Label-Mitbegründer für Release N°10 auf Tiefgang verantwortlich. Das Release hat er seiner Liebe zur blauen Stunde und deren melancholisch-träumerischen Atmosphäre gewidmet. oben*unten - zwei warme Tracks entstanden in bitterkalten Winternächten.

Charakteristisch für Mobi sind die beiden Tracks oben und unten aufgrund ihrer organisch und deepen Färbung. Während oben die gradlinige Klubnummer markiert, kommt mit unten die sphärische Seite des Produzenten zum Vorschein.

Am 15. April feiert Tiefgang das Release im Klub Kapitel in Bern.

Mobis homage to the blue hour – Tiefgang with 10th release ‘oben*unten’

The Berne based label Tiefgang established itself in its 6 years of existence through unique off-space events as well as rowdy club nights.

Responsible for the upcoming release N°10 is the label-cofounder Matthias Gähwiler aka Mobi. oben*unten is a dedication to the blue hour - the time before dawn - and it’s dreamy and melancholic atmosphere.

Both tracks are characteristic for Mobis style of production, because of their deep but still organic texture. oben is a straight forward clubtrack, while unten shows the spherical side of the producer.

Tiefgang throws a Sunday-dance April 15th at Klub Kabitel Bern as a releaseparty.

Bio Mobi

Born and raised in Lucerne, Mobi learned djing in his hometown. Soon moved to Berne, where he joined the Tiefgang Family in 2013 and one year later co-founded the imprint Tiefgang Recordings. Besides his 3 upcoming release on Tiefgang he produced a variety of remixes and edits.

Mobi’s into deep organic sounds and produces warm and melodic tracks. As a DJ, Mobi is searching for moments of strong and driving tension, only to release them an instant later into a floating grooves.

PREMIERE: Lui + L'autre - Macrorave (Mobi Alternative Mix)

The music-savvy Bernese Dave Hard delivers a musically focused piece of work on Sirion Records with his EP Palilula. The lightness of a past summer can be felt here as well as the certain melancholy of an approaching autumn. The three tracks were also reinterpreted and remixed by Dole & Kom, Markus Homm, Mobi, Balance and the Sirionaut Bird.The trance-infused house track "Palilula" creates a bittersweet yet hands-up high atmosphere through pads, chords and bars.Markus Homm created an airy light remix one could listen to in an endless loop.Dole & Kom use skillful melody changes, suspense arches and an additional Acid-inspired synth line for their interpretation. Goose bumps on the dancefloor are guaranteed."Mallet Dreams" announcing fall with filigree mallets, chords and pads. Yet with a certain drive he still feeds on the energy of summer. You'll want to listen to this one wrapped in a warm blanket, watching the foggy sunrise at the after hour of an open air at the lake.The Balance Remix a bit of a quieter, dubbier version. The downtempo affine number shines with a warm bassline and slightly reduced mallets.Pads which on the one hand contain a choral dress and on the other hand a rhythmic note harmonize perfectly with a static kickdrum and warm subbass in "The Soul". A nice rounding off of the whole EP.Mobi reinterprets the track completely and puts on a gloomy almost dystopian atmosphere, which shines through a rougher bassline.Sirion's Bird reduces the original track to its trance-like aspect, adds more drive and rhythm, and voil it's complete.
