La première fois que j’ai entendu ce magnifique instrumental de Dan, j’ai tout de suite su que je devais raconter quelque chose de spécial, de sombre mais en même temps plein d’espoir. Cette piste devait être également  précédée d’un beau prélude pour que l’histoire soit complète:

The first time I heard this beautiful instrumental from Dan, I immediately knew I had to tell something special, dark but at the same time hopeful. This track also had to be preceded by a beautiful prelude for the story to be complete:

PLUIE ET LUMIERE

C est là en plein cœur de l’orage qu’Elle surgit là
C’est depuis le fond de moi qu’elle me foudroie
Elle surgit là, quelque part

Ces nouvelles montagnes à grimper…
Je me retourne une dernière fois vers ce monde, 
ce bout de moi que je vais laisser,
Seule une  partie va me rester.
Je regarde l’autre se détacher,
Je n’ai pas le choix, je dois avancer:
A cette main du destin, je ne peux résister.
Une nouvelle partie va se rejouer 
Est-ce à prendre ou à laisser?
Vais-je partir vers ces contrées insoupçonnées?
Les dés de ma vie ont été relancés
Vais-je la même rester?
Tout vient de se bouleverser
Toutes les pages de ma vie se sont retournées
Tout a été redistribué…pour tout recommencer
Tel un phoenix je renais de mes cendres 
Je ne peux plus prétendre…

Je regarde une dernière fois tout autour de moi…
Et je fais alors le premier pas 

Et même si la pluie ne cesse pas
C’est une autre histoire qui commence pour moi 
Elle surgit là, elle surgit là….


RAIN AND LIGHT

It is there in the heart of the storm that it arises there

it appears there, somewhere

These new mountains to climb…
I return one last time to this world,
this piece of me that I am going to leave behind,
Only part will remain with me.
I watch the other one break away,
I have no choice, I must move forward:
I cannot resist this hand of fate.
A new game will be played again
Take it or leave it?
Will I leave for these unsuspected lands?
The dices of my life have been rolled again
Will I stay the same?
Everything has just turned upside down
All the pages of my life have turned over
Everything was redistributed…to start all over again
Like a phoenix I am reborn from my ashes
I can no longer pretend...

I look around me one last time...
And then I take the first step

And even though the rain doesn't stop
This is another story that begins for me
It arises there, it arises there

Pluie et Lumière (with DAN-DT)

I experimented with free online AI music generation. I set it to create specific styles of tracks in the same key and BPM. I then edited, sampled and mixed the results into one track. Zone Cruiser - Directing Demons (Open Collab)

Another snippet from Caligo Paean, darker in tone to evoke the power Of Caligo, who wasn't just in charge of mist but ruled the domain of chaos. 

Caligo Paean is a 1 hour long sound piece installed on river front property in the town of Franklin, Tasmania as part of the exhibition "When The Fog Clears". It formed part of the Ten Days on The Island Festival March 2025.
The work was installed in several locations across the property including a stack of subs under an old bus, in the main exhibition space and in an abandoned shed some 40 metres from the main area . The speakers were 'tuned' quite differently depending on their location and the sound was not delay corrected with the result of each mini-installation merging with each other in odd sonic ways - kind of calling the listener from one spot to another. The the work features field recordings, percussion, piano, bass guitar and Intonarumori as well as this special one off choir : )

Caligo is the Ancient goddess of Chaos. Born of the fog she controls the darkness, dwells in the void and is as old as the primordial matter that created the universe. This work is a tribute to the goddess as she continues to influence our lives and, in the case of this installation, the site and concept informing the show.

Every day, the mists of the Huon Valley perform a seductive dance, gently obscuring and revealing contours of the fertile land and waters. Situated in The Watershed Franklin, When The Fog Clears features six artists from lutruwita / Tasmania exploring the region’s iconic mists through a variety of mediums including installation, sculpture, illustration, sound, and video.

Developed exclusively for Franklin, this exhibit extends from the waterfront itself into the chambers, kilns, and rafters of the shed, inviting visitors to consider fog as an atmosphere that can cloak us in unexpected ways.
