This piece, its author and its performers, offer a brilliant answer to many topics about music today: interaction between styles and between artists, evolution of contemporary 'classical' music, use of the modular synthesizer as a protean but fully-fledged instrument, relationship between acoustics and electronics, importance of mixing and sound engineering, sound and final artistic quality of recordings (including 'loudness war'), etc. All subjects that a musician or a genuine music lover is confronted with today, whether he likes it or not, in a more or less close and more or less active way. My remark should absolutely not obscure the profound aesthetic value and the remarkable execution of this piece, the emotions and the pleasure they give... Multiple satisfactions, then. (The video will complete an appreciation of the piece and the work done).

Compression Music is a full concert piece which deepens the very idea of sound. The piece raises the question of how the omnipresent current aesthetics of compressed sound in modern music (characterised by homogenising dynamics and the construction of a compact sound) can meet a classical music criteria based on opposing principles such as realistic acoustics, natural instrument colours and wide dynamic ranges.

The text of the piece is a reconstruction of a multitude of fragments of lyrics of pop songs that I liked when I was younger

Compression music es una pieza-concierto que plantea cómo la omnipresente estética actual de sonido comprimido, caracterizada por homogeneizar las dinámicas y construir un sonido compacto se enfrenta a un criterio y tradición clásicos basados en principios de acústicas realistas, timbres naturales y amplios rangos dinámicos.

El texto de la pieza es una reconstrucción de multitud de fragmentos de letras de canciones de música pop que me gustaban cuando era más joven.
