Belgrade-based Laars marks his first solo vinyl release over a sensual 4-track tale honouring the merits of faith, discipline, and the satisfaction of taking your sweet time. Drawing from the vibrant sounds of the 90s and 00s progressive trance and house scenes, he discovered a kindredship with those who have since then primed and perfected their own modern takes on the definitive genres.

The proggy trance/house opener “Breath Control” sighs into existence, emerging like the head-rush of euphoria that accompanies surfing the sadistic tease between suspense and bliss. High resonance and acid sounds punctuate the track, supplying a dominant bodily cue amidst the melodies, gated vocals and loops. “What If You Fly” observes the void below and decides to jump anyway, finding its faith rewarded in a free-fall through chords and synths that knit into a dark, groovy soundscape – soaring over an underscore of conga drums as though caught in exhilarating flight.

On the B-side, “Concur” looks up from the void back into the ether, embracing the danger of the pale blank space above. At 135BPM it glitches and dances through a cyclone of atmospheric synths, pads and cult sci-fi film samples, grinding like a serrated blade under a soft-focus lens. For the close, “Delight” flirts with the comfort of another, tantalising its approach before erupting in slow-motion from its amniotic state. It blisters, bubbles and gasps – and then takes a roll-eyed descent into breakbeats and arps that glide like menacingly slow fingertips over hot skin.

The record from Laars has a precious message: when was the last time that you really let go and listened to the steady rise and fall of your own breath, or sank into the discomfort of not knowing, but continued anyway? The outcome is still the same: jump.

On the imprint’s latest, Oath takes the vibrations right up into the slipstreams via Elfenberg’s latest slice of proggy, euphoria driven excellence….

Elfenberg has become a well known figure within dance music spheres for his expertly crafted and otherworldly chuggy sound. Taking cues from a wide variety of influences, Elfenberg’s music slots in very nicely within the most celebrated of trance laden progressive house and techno - with his signature twist always allowing for a few surprises along the way. Each release he has brought to the fore has provided another string to his impressive bow, fuelling the dance and the emotions with delicate, poised techniques. As much as his tunes are dance floor orientated, his sound has a subtly and deftness to it, an enchanted rhythmic and melodic blend that gives over so much to the listener. His sound ensnares the senses, providing moments to get lost within and moments in which to let yourself go - a music universe that has always remained acutely blended and emotionally poised.

‘Ritmo Paradiso’ contains all of Elfenberg’s signature motifs, but as always it's an EP which spreads itself sonically wide but presents a soundscape which is razor sharp in its focus. The title track swings into view with a deep, pulsating bass and drum loop, which shifts frequency to draw focus to the high hat that slides into the mid section. Acidic flavourings wash over the top of the groove, with the core melodic driver emerging from the mid range. Percussive elements add texture and forward momentum, with slowly evolving pads creating a gentle yet expansive backdrop. ‘Vasastan’ comes next, and this one seeks a different kind of feeling. A spaced out, IDM leaning rhythm provides the basis for a lucid acid line to permeate from side to side. The stage is set for all manner of wondrous melodic features to present themselves, from the flowery keys through to the swelling synths, it's an audial whirlpool in which to get lost over and over again.

It seems with every Elfenberg record, there’s a journey to be undertaken and a tale to be enjoyed, and this one is no different. From the word go, the rhythms are intoxicating, the melodies are otherworldly, and the overall sensation is one of progressive excellence. Always on the move, eager to showcase more, it's a truly tantalising experience - and one that Oath is beyond thrilled to present….

What lies on the terrain for which no map exists? Tifra has volunteered to take the plunge and find out. For the 28th record on Haŵs, the Dutch DJ/producer steps up to the frontline with ‘Terra Incognita’ – a primitive force to be reckoned with that reveres the hypnotising, ominous unknown. Four investigational tracks unify the checkpoints, wandering through themes of 00s/90s leftfield house, prog, and continuous, undulating grooves. The EP sets sail with ‘Invoke Hysteria’, scavenging through malevolent, hostile waters and a caution of pad synths, drums and agitated melodies.

Relenting onwards, ‘Serpent’ slinks into a mellow respite, moving slowly and deliberately like a snake in the moonless dark. Deep, resonant synths coil around the percussive heartbeat of the track, weaving together velvet layers of bass, wind instruments and steady, surrendering exhalations of breath.

The titular ‘Terra Incognita’ hoists up the anchor and yields to the trance of the summoning liquid night. Repetitive melodies form the contours of its shifting course, moulding a ritualistic rhythm under the dissolving face of the sky. 

Admo steps up to the wheel for the remix, smoking out the initial perfume of the atmospherics into a new, tough brutality. Hauling the track out of its initial spacey orbit, he re-embellishes it with dour synths, drums and a primal, subterranean growl.

Some say that there is no worse poverty than that of connection, so why not be the first to take the risk, break the divide and find out what lies beyond the veil? Otherwise, make your own guesses, and then let them guess who you are.

Dream Raw Recordings, self-proclaimed underground label for all kind of fresh dreamy, hazy, lo-fi, raw house, are gearing up to release a V/A comp of gems from a staggering, 36 artists. Faithful to the motto, “too many good tracks,” DRR decided it’d make sense to organize a digital release full of tunes from artists you may already follow, and a bunch you most likely do not. The collection of tracks is wide ranging, spanning mellow house full of dreamy pads and emotional detuned lo-fi pianos to tape recorded acid jams and jungle.

An immediate standout from the pack, Belfast producer Wallabee’s “Feel” features a dramatic, vintage sounding piano loop that creeps over deep drums and under signature lo-fi hats and snares. Adding more fuel to the fire, a heavily reverbed sample of Timbaland’s famous adlibs on Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody” is the perfect complement to an already tripped out track. If you were up on your stuff, you would have heard this track already. Five months ago, Wallabee self-released it via his SoundCloud page. Having smartly signed the track, Dream Raw adds an excellent track to an already impressive collection of tunes. A dig through Wallabee’s discography shows a penchant for deep lo-fi house, glistening pianos, and heavy reverb. One could easily get lost in more than one of his productions. Hint, hint…someone should sign his other track, “2K17.” For many, this will be a nice intro to an unknown producer, and we’ll certainly be watching out for Wallabee’s next releases.

Stay tuned for the rest of the compilation to drop. At 36 tracks, there are bound to be a couple you’ll love.

When it comes to producing dance-floor ready edits, few are doing it better than Tilman and Johannes Albert. Having started the label Fine together back in 2016, these German-based lads have used their imprint to share their takes on some of disco's greatest tunes from the past. In their upcoming release titled The Weekender, the two have decided to join forces once again by coming out with a 4-track EP that will have DJs around the world chomping at the bit to rinse them out in their sets.

The lead track from the EP is called "Beach Reach," and was produced by Mr. Albert. Fans of the British funk band Delegation will instantly recognize this song as an edit of their original "Stand Up Reach For The Sky." Johannes is quite respectful in his rendition of the tune, leaving a lot of its key elements intact. Instead, Johannes chooses to up the intensity by using expertly selected guitar riffs and percussion to create looped melodies which transform the song into an unadulterated groove!

Pitto makes his debut on Dutch label Heist and we're premiering the second original track on the ep ‘Treat me like a fool’. 
It's a mesmerising cut with 16th hi-hats, claps on the hats, a chopped piano loop and a show stopping vocal sample - “You love me like an angel, but you treat me like a fool”. Each time, the track builds and builds, never quite giving in to a massive drop, but instead, focuses on the stripped back soul that is the heart of the track. 
Its a hot and steamy track for summer dancefloors and a great addition to the growing Dutch collective on the Heist catalogue.
