Lukas Batteau's second full-length was recorded in the scorching Nashville summer of 2016, together with longtime friend and producer Steve Savage. In a journey that took over two years, following the release of his debut record Wasteland in 2013, Lukas Batteau almost quit music altogether, exhausted and discouraged by the realities of life as an artist. But he found new inspiration in the incredible joys of parenthood and the wilful suffering of road cycling. Or vice versa. But beneath it all, a complete surrendering to where the road may lead. As Lukas writes in title track Telescope: In slow motion we move. We have nothing to prove.

How fragile we are. In the process of releasing Slow Traveler, I have been working on new songs that seem to carry a theme of vulnerability. We can protect ourselves, but in the end there is no escaping it. We are easily hurt, our bodies brittle. And then there is death. The Rain Is Gone is about grief. The worst part is not the loss, it's the carrying on without. The white lily is the funeral flower. A symbol of serenity, peace, and our transient life.
