Magnetude’s formative single ‘Snatch / Signals’ marked the beginning of their relationship with Ram Records. The Anglo-Russian hybrid was brought together through their mutual love of music and this is evident through each one of their sonic imaginings. Their incredible production standard and attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed by drum & bass figurehead Ram, as their cross-pollination of influences filtered through their meticulously fashioned compositions. After spending the last year solidly working on their unique blend of dance music, they had their defining moment on the drum & bass behemoth, which is now being followed in quick succession by forthcoming record ‘Aracde’. 

‘Arcade’ has already been doing the rounds, becoming a signature within the duo’s sets throughout the world. The 8-bit breakdown and synth-layered crescendos take you through each track switch, as you’re pulled deeper and deeper into a pin-ball machine of evilly-laughing samples amongst fast-paced beat patterns. Magnetude demonstrate that there’s more to come following their sophomore release and that this is only the beginning for a pair who’ve spent years sharing their craft online. With the backing of an imprint that has had twenty five years to define their roster, Magnetude are a welcome addition to Ram’s genre-shaping catalogue.

Massive tracks like “Weirdo”, laced by unlikely guest star Bizarre from D12, and “Grave Digga”, plus huge deejay sets at events like Fabriclive and Let it Roll have firmly established No Concept's rave-wrecking credentials. And now they're back with a brand new EP.

The eponymous opening track of “Showdown” might just be the most epic sound we've heard from No Concept so far. Right down to the “In a world...” narration, this is uncompromisingly cinematic, with a synth orchestra teaming up with touches of classic breaks to build the hype. Then the drop throws us straight into the middle of sonic warfare, with huge waves of bass striking against concrete-hard drums.

Then, with “Gets Me High”, No Concept switch to hands-in-the-air mode. The rising arpeggios, uplifting chords, and building harmonies in the intro suit the big room perfectly, but that's not all this track has to offer. The drop manages to blend heavyweight bass and steel toecap drums into the euphoric musicality, meaning this is going to hit hard wherever it's played. Big tune.

“Wot U Gna Do” is unmissable. Selectors from across the spectrum are going to love this one. The intro gets us hooked immediately, as immediately-recognisable riffs and vocals grab our attention. After a build that you're almost certainly going to be wheeling, No Concept swing a mighty wrecking-ball of a drop at us. Deploying the stripped-back aggression of grotty jump-up melodies, combined with serious levels of bass-weight and twisted timbre-manipulation, this is dangerous.

Finally, we get “Fire Riddim”. Opening with one of the expansively dramatic intros that No Concept have made a trademark on this EP, the tune is driven by metronomic pizzicato stabs, while keys and brass prophesy viciousness to come. The nitroglycerine drop hits hard, with rock-solid bass and beats to make the dance move. It's the way the melodic elements fluctuate into unpredictable patterns, though, that keeps this vital and engaging to the end. Explosive material.

It's clear that there's no such thing as a “typical” No Concept tune. Capable of light and shade, filth and melody, every time these producers bring out new music, the only thing we can predict is that they'll find a way to surprise us. And that their tunes will take the roof off wherever they're played.

Luka Per aka Smooth was introduced to music at the age of 10, when he began to practice piano. After practicing for 3 years and later on he became more interested in guitar, also in such genres as metal, hardcore etc. When a couple of years passed by he attended his first drum n bass party and he was hooked!

After hearing ‘Under The Moon’ which would appear on Viper Recordings ‘Acts of Mad Men’ album, Smooth was signed to the label and later went onto release his first single ‘7th Sense’ / ‘Squirm’ (feat. KG) on Viper’s sister label, Viper VIP. Smooth is also one half of Telekinesis who recently made their debut on Breed 12 Inch label, as well as one third of City of Dogs, whose track ‘Absolutely Flawless’ was featured on Pendulum’s Radio1 Essential Mix. 

2011 was a breakout year for Smooth, starting off with the massive single 'Feel So Free' on Viper VIP, which was followed by 'Calling' and Smooth's absolutely immense remix of the Matrix & Futurebound classic 'Strength 2 Strength' on Viper's 'Worldwide 001' album. This was followed by two tracks on Viper's 'Summer Slammers 2011' album, with 'Want It' and 'Alienated' (as Telekinesis). 

Smooth has gained a legion of new followers over the course of 2012 with his massive ‘Blinded By The Light EP’ released in January which featured no less than seven essential cuts which showed the amazing range of the young producer. Busy on the remix front as well, Smooth has provided official remixes for smash hits such as Camo & Krooked – ‘Get Dirty’ (feat. TC) and Seven Lions – ‘Below Us’ (feat. Shaz Sparks), as well as the upcoming Matrix & Futurebound single ‘Magnetic Eyes’ (feat. Baby Blue) and Modestep’s new single ‘Another Day’.

Now ready to launch the next chapter of his career, Smooth has set his sights on working towards his debut album on Viper Recordings which will surely catapult him amongst the elite producers in drum and bass. Serving as the first album single, ‘Virgo Cluster’ is the perfect showcase of Smooth’s trademark anthemic dancefloor funk which he is becoming world renown for.
