More Than Conquerors is the 6th single from The Unseen album, a collection of songs about rebellion and restoration by Gold Coast songwriter and music producer Luke Garfield.

More Than Conquerors started as a song over 22 years ago.
 
“More Than Conquerors was a song I wrote to play at a youth camp I was a leader at. I had never written a worship song so I thought I’d try writing one for us to sing at the camp” he says.

“The song I’m releasing now is sort of half of the song that was written back then. When I started writing songs for The Unseen album project I’d always liked the music and lyrics of More Than Conquerors but I realised I had forgotten parts of it.”
 
“I could remember the first verse and the chorus but the rest was lost to time.” Garfield says.
 
“There was never a second verse so I needed to write the lyrics for it. These are some of my favourite lyrics in the song now. I also had to come up with a bridge section to help it feel balanced.

“It’s a bit of a departure musically from the sound of the other songs on the album but I really love the uplifting sound and theme of the song. When we sing this song at my church it’s such a celebration”, says Garfield.

More Than Conquerors draws thematically from the letter of Paul to the Romans. In this letter he describes believers as “more than conquerors through him who loved us”. The song draws out how truly wonderful the gospel message is by highlighting the intimate language the Father and Son use of believers. Jesus calls us brothers and his friend. God calls us his very sons, not in gender terms, but in terms of the amazing inheritance we have in faith because of Jesus’ finished work.

The lyrics and groove of this song gives believers plenty of reasons to remember and celebrate their conquering King and the faith they have in Him. At the same time, it reminds them that this is just a taste of the things to come in the new heaven and earth.

More Than Conquerors will be available on all popular streaming platforms on the 3rd of September, 2022.

This time he takes on the Slumber Session and packs in a tonne of unreleased exclusive material to deliver this beautiful, ethereal soundtrack to help you journey through your dreams. Take time, kick back, zone out and drift off. This one is special.

"This Slumber Session mix gave me a great opportunity to make a playlist of something I would want to listen to when unwinding, or to just fall asleep to. I wanted it to be able to exist in the background, without focus, whilst at the same time having elements of detail and beauty scattered amongst the layers of sound unravelling as the mix progresses.

In some ways you can think of it as a soundtrack to a dream. There are moments of calm flowing smoothly into more abstract sections. Textures build to go from sparse emotive landscapes to darker, brooding moments of tension. I wanted it to be dynamic, taking in a variety of styles and influences, whilst giving the listener a coherent experience and painting some interesting images in their minds.

It also gave me the chance to put in a lot of unreleased tracks of mine. I make a wide variety of styles outside of my normal output, so it was great to have an outlet for some of that material. There are also a lot of field recordings I've made over the last few years throughout the mix, including some from my travels. The opening section of music features the sounds of walks in Sydney and San Francisco, which at the time was just some subconscious grabbing of sound recordings without any kind of artistic purpose - it just sounded cool at the time. It seemed fitting when I realised where the sounds were from, as the mix would have been the perfect playlist for a lot of my sleep deprived travels.

I ended up getting so involved putting together this mix that there's a lot of live tweaks of outboard reverb and delay units layered on certain tracks to try and get the sense of space I wanted to achieve and give the mix some breathing space. I find that ambient music can be incredibly beautiful and achieve the range of emotions other music can. I hope that you enjoy the musical selection and can immerse yourself in it, even with the emphasis away from the hooks and rhythms of traditional electronic dance music."
