Mourn

Many of you have known me for about two decades as DJ Shawnodese and those days have finally come to an end. I have experienced truly glorious years under this name and will never forget the beauty and amazing times I was allowed to experience. Those days are forever etched in the depths of my heart and are felt with immense gratitude. 🙏🏻💛🙏🏻

For quite some time, the name didn't feel appropriate anymore though and felt as if the name of this magical Spirit keeper of the South (according the the Medicine Wheel of the Sun Bear Tribe) pushed me to let go of the name. I somehow got too attached it and the success I experienced during all those years and am clearly invited to let go of all of that and then simply explore what comes next.

The cycle feels completed and knowing and specially sensing this for some time already, I was kind of feeling puzzled which name to chose next. Somehow though, as soon as I decided I would take and invite in another name, it came to me in no time and the name rang very clearly in my head.
DJ Sonic Sculptor...

I could immediately feel the truth and power which these words embody and how they describe a very typical feeling I experience during my DJ sets. I truly feel like a sculptor building and crafting beautiful and majestic musical landscapes. How all those different musical masterpieces of art get sculpted by and through me and I somehow miraculously manage to craft all sorts of sonic soundscapes, once truly being in touch with the essence of who I am and from where the boundless love for music, life, dancing and movement automatically flows forward. 🎼🎶🎼

Yes, I feel very content with this new name and even dreamt about it the night after it came to me. I could feel the solidity and resonance with this name deep in my dream and body after waking up. 

I still played one last 'goodbye' gig under the name DJ Shawnodese, which was on the 29th of November in one of the oldest cities of the Netherlands named Leiden. For those of you who were there and all the rest of you who weren't, but would love to hear my DJ requiem, here you go and it's totally packed with incredible tantalizing tasteful tunes by:

Luke’s dynamic live act includes playing a mixture of electronic and acoustic music while mixing in multiple live wind instruments and live drumming. His lifelong devotion to community dance medicine started at age 14 in 1998 when he started to DJ at northwest USA raveriffic events! He then started touring the world and releasing hundreds of songs released with a large number of the biggest labels in the world like Selador, Desert Hearts, Digital Structures, Dreaming Awake, Desert Trax, Booka Shade Music. 

This is deep piscean scorpio music, sprinkled with unusual sounds, unexpected twists, eclectic mix of global sounds, various tempos and grooves. It reflects stories of love-driven culture and open-minded ideas.  Depending on the crowd, the sets can vary from being pretty and uplifting to deep, dark, and primal, although they typically feature melodic and atmospheric textures infused with a lot of emotion.  Luke also has a functional (natural, root cause) medicine practice as this weaves so beautiful with dance and music medicine.
