Cheb i Sabbah was a musical pioneer, fusing together entire cultures of sound and music, pushing cutting edge blends of traditional songs with beats and ideas which were way ahead of his time.

"Chebiji" as he was affectionately known passed away November 6, 2013 at the age of 66, and we are releasing this special remaster as a benefit to his family: he has two kids and three grandkids, who are largely dependent on him. All the proceeds from this remix will go straight to the family.

16 years ago, when I was a 14 or so and living in the NorthWest USA, I started listening to Moontribe Collective Mixtapes from the 90's and was really happy to hear other people playing vinyl similar to mine, which I didn't hear so in the underground scenes I was involved with in the NorthWest USA (Moontribe was more progressive). Moontribe's legendary vibe was an epic imaginative dream I had in my head for 13 years before I was able to go to my first Moontribe Event in 2012 to play a sunrise set at their 19 year Anniversary! This year I played the 21 year anniversary before Treavor Moontribe. The events were as epic as I imagined, reflecting a very warm vibe you'll find knowwhere else.

Here's my new single out on Desert Dwellers​' label Desert Trax. We put on a remix contest for this and the three winners are listed on Beatport (including 19-year-old Doan from Vietnam!), as well as a remix from Terrakroma​.  Especially when it’s drenched in reverb :) It's a Native American flute (F# Heart Chakra), I love playing this flute so much! It's safe to say that Desert Dwellers are the most OG desert DJs that we know. In fact, Treavor Moontribe was one of the founding members of Moontribe Collective, the original community of California desert dancers who've been gathering under the full moon since 1993. We owe a ton of our inspiration to Moontribe and we might even go so far to say there wouldn't be a Desert Hearts without our founding fathers of the desert scene.

While we've had Treavor Moontribe absolutely kill it for us in the past, it's his ultra psychedelic Desert Dwellers project with partner Amani Friend that really made international waves. Predominantly a downtempo project, we first heard about a super rare techno / tech house set performed by Desert Dwellers through our partner Kristoff. And he just wouldn't stop raving about it...

Honestly we had absolutely no idea what to expect from a techno set by Desert Dwellers other than the good word of one of our partners. Their set was the one true wildcard on our lineup and it ended up being one of the most radical sets of the weekend. With the first 1.5 hours of the set being all original material, Desert Dwellers pulled off one of the best sets we've ever heard at Desert Hearts.
