Luke Mandala Live at the Deep Down (Reno) - (part 2)

The rain was pouring down and not a soul could be seen at the stage.    Slowly, they emerged, looking a little wet and a lot tired.  I made it up onto the stage scaffolding and team members started trying to get the generator working.  I was living on infinite patience and low expectations and it worked for me.  I wiped down their rain spattered mixer and allowed myself to enjoy the moment.  It made me smile.  

The generator (their second one?) started humming and a thumbs up appeared!  I pressed record and it all started.  The rain dissipated and the sun started shinning!  The beats and the sunbeams brought the people out to the stage and it happened!  It was such an honour to start the vibe at Ironic Spin.

This is one of those sets that built up inside me, patiently awaiting its perfect moment. I found a few of these tracks some years ago and was struck by their unique flavor. Slowly but surely I built up my collection of what I would call the "indie-dance / nu-disco" sound. There is plenty of music under the blanket of those genres but much less of it out there that speaks to my personal tastes. I kept my ears open and picked them up one by one. This isn't a style that I will play often, but damn did it feel right on this beautiful sunrise morning in the desert. Smiling faces and dancing bodies radiated love and light, the speaker stacks roared and my heart was full. I hope you enjoy this set at full volume and dance yourself unabashedly into your happy place :)

Blooming Heart gathering.. ahh my favorite type of event. It's basically a blissed utopia on an island in the NW in the summer. Doesn't get much better for me. This set was late night until shortly before sunrise.. outdoors by the tea lounge. I listen to ambient music about as much as I listen to music with beats so this is a big part of my life, stoked to share it with you! Armando Kroma@Love Long Beach Festival - 2017

I found this old live mix collecting digital dust in my archives. It's the first hour and change of a live set I played at a Moontribe Full Moon Gathering in November 2017. There are a couple of short video clips that were taken by Danny Isaacs while I played this set, which can be seen on my Facebook DJ page and YouTube channel. Luke’s dynamic live act includes playing a mixture of electronic and acoustic music while mixing in multiple live wind instruments and live drumming. His lifelong devotion to community dance medicine started at age 14 in 1998 when he started to DJ at northwest USA raveriffic events! This is deep piscean scorpio music, sprinkled with unusual sounds, unexpected twists, eclectic mix of global sounds, various tempos and grooves. It reflects stories of love-driven culture and open-minded ideas.  Depending on the crowd, the sets can vary from being pretty and uplifting to deep, dark, and primal, although they typically feature melodic and atmospheric textures infused with a lot of emotion.
