COPYCATT’s potent signature cocktail of chunky neuro bass riffs and loose Dilla-Era hip hop grooves has put him on the forefront of the next wave of bass music, attracting the support of artists such as, Pretty Lights, Haywyre and Kill Paris. COPYCATT has also taken out 1st prize in a handful of competitions, including a remix competition hosted by Australia’s most popular nationwide radio broadcast, Triple J, which landed him airtime on the platform and time at the Triple J office in Sydney. His catalogue features releases with respected bass music labels such as Inspected (UK), Upscale (US), LA90 (US) and Night Owl Collective (US), and includes collaborations with Holly, Frequent, Mr. Bill, and UK-based rapper Maksim. At 26 years of age, the young Australian producer has shown promising evidence of a budding bass music legend."

The idea was born during a period of artistic transition, in 2014, just before going solo. The initial reference was "Tourniquet" by Knife Party, but with a more melodic intention.

It was clear from the beginning that, aside from a few sounds, the idea didn’t align with The Mastertrons’ typical style. The idea remained on standby, waiting for a definitive form, for two years.

In 2015, after meeting and collaborating with a local guitarist and songwriter, the draft turned into a full song in 2016. Pete, inspired by the demo and the title, wrote and recorded the lyrics, vocals, and guitars, perfectly capturing the message and original intent. The track was released in the summer of 2017. 

Make the Difference is a tribute to artistic uniqueness and the influences that make it possible. An invitation to enrich yourself through real experiences, absorb them, and then return them in the form of a unique sound. May it inspire other artists to do the same, in their own way.

That's how you make a difference.
