Set to arrive in September, ‘We Are Le Turfu’ is the debut collaborative effort by creatively curious French producers REMAIN & daWad. REMAIN is a well-known Rex Club resident,
founder of Meant Records, and has a plethora of releases on labels including Throne of Blood, Darkroom Dubs, and Death On Wax. He is a man of many simultaneous projects, namely Danse Alice, which has previously released on Lumière Noire.
 
daWad has co-managed the IRM label which released Traumer’s first records, who came from a musical family with his pianist mother and his grandfather an organist and harmonizer for a church in Provence. With releases on KNTRL, La Dame Noir Records, Beachcoma and more, this new project marks his debut on Lumière Noire.

Their duo alias known as ‘We Are Le Turfu’ was coined one night, playing records back-to- back, dancefloor receptive, captive, grooving, and bursting at the seams. With decades of experience under their belts, this three-track EP is the first studio effort of the combo and flawlessly embodies the delightfully dark, cybernetic electronica CHLOÉ’s avant-garde label and club night is renowned for.

Opening track ‘Shame Shell’ see’s REMAIN & daWad enlisting a harsh, wintery mix of melodics to clash menacingly with the track’s probing bassline. Whilst somewhat sparse in parts, these producers have curated a deeply atmospheric and mesmerising composition, employing spidery synth patterns alongside mechanised percussion to produce a gloomy, sub-aquatic soundscape.

‘Still Care’ weaves sinister electronic measures with cutting EBM-like motifs. The track’s abrasive inception, which features a coarse cluster of murmuring overtones and hypnotic drum rolls, methodically grows in stature and before-long bursts at the track’s mid-point to make way for glacial strings which adds an icy ambience to this dark, cosmic roller.

A special remix on this release comes from Charlotte Bendiks, an artist from Norway who focuses on alluring dance and body music. Although her main genre is classic house, her sets are inspired and influenced by music ranging from disco to African groove and Latin beats. Her live vocals and percussion, as well as integrating other musicians has become somewhat of a trademark. Her remix for ‘Still Care’ takes the original into a more
downtempo, trippy edit.

The first single ‘Same Shell’ will be released on the 13th September and ‘We Are Le Turfu’ EP will be available from 4th October on Lumière Noire Records.

Paris-based record label Lumière Noire prepare to release 'Intronics' from label head honcho Chloé to coincide with her all-night long session at Rex Club on the 27th of September...Our pick from the album is ‘Zeitnot‘, which translates to ‘Time Pressure‘. As Chloé ventures into a midnight disco crypt filled with burnished leather poets, the track unfolds with space-delayed techno kick-drums juxtaposed against a crescendo of doom-laden soundscapes. A relentless, swirling bass arpeggio serves as a backdrop for intrusive thoughts and haunting monologues.

Chloé - Zeitnot [Lumière Noire]

French producer Pierre-Alexandre Busson, known as Yuksek, has enjoyed a storied career spanning over two decades. Since rising to prominence in 2000, he has become an acclaimed remixer, composer, and collaborator, with a catalog that includes six full-length studio albums. In 2021, Busson introduced his DESTIINO project as a departure from conventional creative methods, embracing spontaneous improvisation born from unstructured studio synth sessions. The resulting dark, melancholic recordings were so compelling that his friend Chloé convinced him to release them via her Lumière Noire label.

DESTIINO’s latest release, out now on Lumière Noire, features two captivating tracks. The lead single, Imagery, brims with carefree charm, blending mechanical melodies and cloudy soundscapes into a bittersweet rhythm that lingers. The second track, Somlake featuring Iñigo Vontier, delivers a syncopated calypso groove with coiling synths and sporadic percussion, evoking the eclectic style of DESTIINO’s debut LP. Together, the tracks exemplify Busson’s evolving artistry and his ability to craft immersive sounds.

PREMIERE: Destiino - Somlake feat. Iñigo Vontier [Lumière Noire]

The storied music career of French producer, Pierre-Alexandre Busson is now over two decades long. After first coming to prominence in 2000, he has gone on to become an acclaimed remixer, composer and in-demand collaborator. In 24 years, the Reims-born electronic maestro has assembled a vast back-catalogue which includes no less than 6 full-length studio albums. 

Known to many as Yuksek, Busson launched his DESTIINO project in 2021 as a “step away from the conventional creative processes and towards more spontaneous improvisation”. It’s been 4 years since he released his self-titled ‘DESTIINO’ LP – a nine-track album released as part of the Reims-born producer’s mysterious studio side-project. Launched as a vehicle to experiment with less orthodox procedures in electronic beat-making, Busson will release his second album ‘ii’ under his DESTIINO moniker on 7th March 2025 via Lumière Noire Records. 

The second single will arrive in the shape of ‘My Crush’ which will be released on the 21st February. DESTIINO manages to cultivate a glacial like atmosphere via his punctilious use of wintery sonics on this new release. Opening via a pita patter of crisp droplets, an industrial whirring breaks the frosty serenity of the introduction aside a highly-strung synth arrangement and a plodding, ploughing bassline. There’s a polar ambience captured within the snow-capped melody of this enthralling single release that’ll leave fans of Yuksek’s ambient-leaning material in wide-eyed anticipation of what to expect from ‘ii’. 

DESTIINO’s ‘My Crush’ will be released on the 21st February on Lumière Noire Records.

Parisian imprint Lumière Noire continue to navigate the liminal zones of sound art and club culture with their second 4-track various artists compilation 'Flash Vol. 2'. Our pick is the final offering 'H00V' from Frankfurt-based producer Lauer - a track that doesn’t so much announce itself as crash in through the side door. Built on a snarling, rubberized bassline and precision-tooled garage drums, ‘H00V’ flirts with early-2000s UK Garage while keeping one eye locked on the horizon.

As the head of Lumière Noire Records, CHLOÉ has been instrumental in developing a platform where the most contemporary electronic artists can thrive. The Parisian DJ/producer’s forward-thinking spirit has enabled her to collate an eclectic roster producing beautifully innovative sounds that’ll be just as suited to museums, installations and art exhibits as they are at dancefloors, clubs and festivals.

LAUER’s single ‘H00V’ will act as the introduction on this mini-VA series release on the 23rd May, with the full package featuring tracks from Paresse, Costello and an exclusive collaboration with CHLOÉ and Destiino will be out on the 6th June.

Paresse’s ‘SEM EMS’ opens the release with the genre-splicing Stockholm native completing the VA’s impressive cast of contributors. A methodically designed arrangement of dub-laced melodies and motorised grooves, its choppy mix of low-end and digitalised undertones revolves uninterrupted with woofer shaking intent before the beat comes to an abrupt halt.

Bordeaux native, Costello is renowned for his versatile productions, on his track ‘Fresh Flesh’ he incorporates a jagged, fractured melody that bumps alongside haunted organ strings that permeate each breakdown. With nods to dark disco and minimal house throughout, the unpredictability of the VA’s opener sets a truly intriguing precedent as for what’s to follow.

A long-time collaborator of CHLOÉ’s, Yuksek revives his mysterious Destiino alias to collaborate with her on ‘Venere’. Feverish and choppy from the get-go, it features far-out melodics that click together to produce a wonderfully weird amalgamation of hissing synths, chunky bass notes, and a series of mystifying effects that snap and pop across its stuttering, robotic soundscape.

Frankfurt renowned DJ/producer LAUER who had already contributed a track to the label’s ‘From Above Vol.1’ compilation back in 2018, adds a garage-like edge to the VA with his track ‘H00V’ to act as the teaser single on the 23rd May. A stomping maelstrom of percussion underpinned by a nose-diving, mottled bassline makes up the core of this 00s-era throwback, which rigidly sticks to the 4x4 blueprint as bells ring, snares snap and laser-strobe effects flash to create a darkly crafted but still vibrant composition.

On June 6th, CHLOÉ and her acclaimed label Lumière Noire release the second volume of their Flash mini-VA series, welcoming a dynamic lineup including Costello, LAUER, Paresse, and label favourite Destiino.

As the visionary behind Lumière Noire, CHLOÉ has long been committed to curating a space where cutting-edge electronic music can flourish. With a keen ear for innovation, the Parisian DJ/producer has built a diverse roster of forward-thinking artists whose sounds are equally suited to art galleries and installations as they are to clubs and festivals.

The release will be previewed by LAUER’s single H00V, dropping May 22nd, ahead of the full EP on June 6th.

Opening the VA is Bordeaux producer Costello, known for his versatile and genre-blending style. Fresh Flesh is a jagged and unpredictable ride, driven by fractured melodies and eerie organ strings. With nods to dark disco and minimal house, it sets an intriguingly edgy tone for the release.

CHLOÉ & Destiino – “Venere”
A long-time collaborator of CHLOÉ, Yuksek returns to his Destiino alias for an exclusive joint track. Venere is feverish and choppy from the outset, featuring abstract melodic clicks, hissing synths, chunky bass, and mystifying effects that combine into a robotic, hypnotic soundscape.

Prima Lux: Costello

Sapphist Eye’s initiation into Paris’ queer party scene was the catalyst for her now budding career in electronic dance. After gaining the attention of CHLOE in 2023, her track ‘Exist Everywhere’ was selected to feature on lesbian collective Barbi(e)turix’s 2nd compilation. After this breakthrough, fellow French imprint Les Disques du Lobby came calling before arriving on Lumière Noire with her debut solo EP, ‘Another Side’ in 2024.
