One night one flung light through this place

Spring bloomed in the kitchen again
So I crawled out of the wall and squinting

Ayer, alrededor de las dos de la tarde, el cielo de Iztapalapa se llenó de fuego. Una pipa de gas explotó en el Puente de la Concordia, muy cerca del Metro Santa Martha. La mayoría ya vio los videos… el fuego saliendo como si fuera volcán, los autos atrapados, la gente corriendo. Pero lo que casi nadie sabe… es la historia del hombre que iba manejando esa pipa.
Su nombre aún no es oficial, pero los vecinos que lo vieron dicen que era joven, de unos 35 o 40, con una gorra azul, y que antes de que el tanque explotara, él gritó que corrieran. "¡Apártense! ¡Va a tronar!". Se bajó tambaleándose, con la ropa ya quemada por el derrame. Dicen que quiso abrir válvulas para evitar lo peor, pero no alcanzó. No lo logró.

Entre las personas heridas hay una madre que vendía quesadillas justo debajo del puente. Iba con su hija, de 9 años, que hoy está grave, pero viva, gracias a que alguien la empujó hacia una barda antes del estallido. ¿Fue él? Nadie lo sabe con certeza. Pero varios lo vieron corriendo hacia los demás, no huyendo.

 El estruendo se escuchó hasta Zaragoza. Pero el eco más fuerte está en las vidas que se apagaron… y en las que se salvaron por segundos.

Ayer, 3 personas no regresaron a casa. Más de 70 están heridas. Algunas están en hospitales sin saber que su historia está en boca de todos. Que sus nombres serán mencionados en grupos de WhatsApp, en la fila de las tortillas, en las calles de Naucalpan y en todo el Valle de México.

“Ya se había quejado el chofer de que esa pipa no servía”, dicen en grupos de empleados de la empresa dueña. "Era vieja", "ya chillaba la válvula". Pero nadie hizo caso. Porque en México así pasa: hasta que explota, hacemos ruido.

 Y tú que vas leyendo esto, ¿sabías que miles de pipas cruzan diario por nuestras calles sin que nadie las revise?

Mañana, otra pipa pasará por tu colonia. Otra señora pondrá su puesto de quesadillas. Otro chofer irá con miedo de que esa vez… sea él.

No olvidemos los nombres, ni los rostros, ni las historias que se esconden entre las sirenas. Que no se nos haga costumbre ver fuego sin preguntar por quién lo apagó con su vida.

Te das cuenta que la vida es un regalo que se nos da cada día, y nunca sabemos cuántos más tendremos. No hace falta hacer cosas extraordinarias para vivir al máximo, basta con disfrutar lo sencillo: una risa, un café, una charla, un silencio. El presente es todo lo que tenemos, así que vívelo con ganas.
