Michael Palmieri is a composer of modern classical music with hundreds of original compositions to his credit.

Mr. Palmieri’s composing ability and know-how have been enhanced by his experiences teaching courses in keyboard harmony and ear training in the music theory department at Penn State University, from 1969 to 1970, administrating and concertizing for a major piano manufacturer from 1970 to 1976 and teaching as an independent music instructor from 1976 to 2018.

Influenced by his classical music and piano training, which includes an M.A. degree in music, his years of performance as a professional musician and his composing, arranging and improvising abilities he has, as news articles put it, “developed his own musical language and style.”

For 30 years he presented concerts displaying the achievements of his pupils at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. This annual event had been listed in The New York Times, New York Magazine and written about in local newspapers.

Michael Palmieri has created numerous pieces for major performers. Both the Baltimore Symphony and the San Antonio Symphony Orchestras played an arrangement written by him. The Allard Quartet performed a String Quartet. His music has been choreographed and performed at The University of California. “Music for Clarinet and Piano” was played by prize-winning musicians at music festivals and competitions. Four scores for brass quintet have been played by as many as thirty ensembles worldwide. The Electric Alligator Ensemble, an electronic keyboard ensemble, presented performances of his original electronic music.

Mr. Palmieri has written many “Piano Pieces” for his own and other professional performances and is the author of “Student Piano Pieces”, a collection of music written for and performed by his pupils.

His electronic piece, “Three Fantasies” was considered for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize, the album “Five Fantasies was considered for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize and the album “film music” was considered for the 2024 Pulitzer Prize.

Mr. Palmieri has orchestrated music for live performances and produced instrumental tracks for professional recordings.

He has written and performed background arrangements for singers, string arrangements for rock band, a symphonic accompaniment of a patriotic song recorded with chorus, a project sponsored by the government of Norway, and has been commissioned to write original music and arrangements for various performers.

For the past 25 years Michael Palmieri has written and recorded his music electronically at the computer, distributing his recordings online.

His music is broadcasted on hundreds of radio stations throughout the world.

Visual artists, around the globe, are inspired by and dedicate their artwork to him and his music.

For 30 years, Michael Palmieri’s technique, reading ability, improvisations, arranging and compositional skills, as well as his adaptability to each very different musical situation, increased his reputation as a top freelance musician. In addition to solo performances, he shared the stage with virtuoso musicians and singers. His assignments have encompassed classical, ethnic, popular, jazz, and rock music.

Un concepto experimental en el rock como expresión tribal contemporánea de melodías sublimes. Otra realidad entre sombras, ángeles, gitanos y el andar firme en dirección a una nueva vida.

LUMINARA se identifica con todo aquello que asemeje Claridad Musical y a través de su propuesta podemos apreciar claramente su estilo. Un rock melódico, fusionado con elementos del 'world music' y un toque sutil de misticismo español; acompañado de un propósito fundamental. Brindar luz, claridad y enfoque por medio de sus canciones. 

Dvy (cantante) y Kajhlo (lead guitar), comienzan formalmente su travesía en el mundo del escenario en otoño del 2007, bajo el nombre de ILUMINATA. Pero, por diversas razones, a mediados del 2010,  deciden hacer una breve pausa, retomando su carrera sorpresivamente en otoño del 2011 con la presentación de su primer álbum compacto llamado Otra Realidad (Grabado en Chicago por Joan Vélez y Masterizado por Brad Blackwood) y la presentación a finales del 2013 de su primer video musical llamado Vida. 

A través de los últimos años, LUMINARA, ha alcanzado distinguirse no tan solo por su sonido melódico; sino también por sus logros y reconocimientos obtenidos dentro y fuera del país. Puerto Rico, España, Londres, Australia, Latino América (Venezuela, México, Colombia, El Salvador) y Estados Unidos, son algunos de los lugares que han mantenido canciones como Eres, Vida y No te dejes caer como sus favoritas; siendo a su vez incluidas en varios 'Top Tens' internacionales y compilaciones de Puerto Rico y América Latina. (El Batiscafo, Indie Riot Top Ten, Rock the Cuts de Supercuts)

Su video musical Vida, fue reconocido como uno de los mejores videos del año 2013, por Batiscafo. Y actualmente Luminara son los únicos artistas latinos incluidos en la campaña, Rock the Cuts de Supercuts del 2013-2014 en los Estados Unidos y reconocidos a su vez en el roster del Indie Artist Spotlight 2013 - auspiciado por JetBlue y Heineken JazzFest.  Al contar con una voz femenina , han tenido el grato honor de que su cantante Dvy haya sido incluida en varios reportajes, reseñas y artículos internacionales como una de las más destacadas cantantes del rock actual en la isla: reportaje especial Rockstars - El Nuevo Día, periódico de mayor circulación en Puerto Rico,  Mujeres en la música - Pilli Montilla, Conductora programa Te para tres,  Documental Reinas del Ruido - Latín Rock, Universidad Sagrado Corazón.

  Bautizados por Huge Lynch (ex guitarrista de Rata Blanca) como ’ la voz femenina más linda del rock en Puerto Rico’ , catalogado por Nino Davis (107FM, Mi Rock) y Ángel Correa (Latín Rock, Emisora Sagrado Corazón) como una de las mejores bandas de rock independiente que tiene nuestra isla del Encanto. Y nominados por la Revista Voltaje en New York, como Banda Revelación del Año del 2012.   

Luminara a mediados del 2014 trabajara de la mano junto a Los Golpes Hablan (Exposición fotográfica sobre la temática del maltrato de la mujer, Sagrado Corazón, Casa Ruth) un media tour y será parte de dicha gira, en el cual a su vez la campaña de Vida tendrá una participación activa. Vida, no es solo uno de los temas incluidos en su álbum debut, el mismo a su vez es una campaña educativa indie, que tiene el propósito de crear conciencia y educar sobre un tema el cual no se le dio importancia hasta el 1970, la depresión infantil y adolecente. La dirección del mismo estuvo a cargo de el joven cineasta Federico Torres (Cinefiesta 2012, Micros 2012) y la participación especial de Elmer Pérez (bailarín ballet Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico).

The fact that these musicians and singers can work in so many varying musical styles reveals how flexible and talented they are.
