All Mixed Up (Vol. 4)

Counterfeit Rainbow sent us an epic purple mix for this week's Mountain Standard Guest Mix. This sound whether described as the ‘purple wow’, ‘the purple wave’, ‘purple dubstep’, or simply ‘purple’,  is a bombastic, melodic and funk-laden sub-genre that developed out of two of the UK’s youngest and most exciting scenes – grime and dubstep.  Known primarily for its off-kilter or “unstable” beats, as well as its eclectic blend of genres including hip hop, electro-funk, chiptune, jazz fusion, glitch, and crunk. 
Counterfeit Rainbow sent us over this mix chock full of original tunes as well as a handful of forthcoming unreleased dubs! We couldn't wait to share this next one with y'all.

Wessanders’ journey towards the zenith of his own creativity is, by design, filled with curious and unexpected turns and jaunts away from the typical. Rounding off the end of the EP is perhaps the most ambitious Wessanders production to date, featuring a full-fledged journey through the newfound contemporary power of dnb. It’s a complete package, giving listeners a taste of both his time-honed territories and recent explorations within the wide umbrella of bass music. Here we have a set of sounds from my favorite producers that I have been curating during these times of seclusion. Some are new Some aren't so new. I focus on specific vibes first and foremost. This is a late night/ early morning vibe. It is chill but with plenty of forward thinking bass music throughout.   Music and art has been keeping my mind and heart in an ok place lately. It is a n affective safety net when the world outside seems so harsh and cold.  I hope these sounds and mixes can keep you a little warmer this winter and beyond.  I love you all.
