House music legend Ian Pooley readies ‘Studio A Pt. 1’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint this September.

Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, as well as remixing for the likes of Daft Punk, Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more. Here though, Pooley arrives on Rekids with his first ever contribution to the label, delivering three direct and grooving house tracks.

Leading the release, ‘Basic Juno’ sees modulating synth lines deftly placed around chunky drums accompanied by pulsing basslines and shimmering pads, before ‘Close Your Eyes’ brings a dose of trippy vocals and shuffling percussion amongst interplaying hardware for a punchy start to the B side. ‘303 (2 Bars)’ brings the release to a close with pounding drum machines, meaty acid lines, and blissful leads.

After years of thumpers and bumpers on labels such as Twirl, Love Child and Instant Replay, the erstwhile Go-Go dancer and Amsterdam club legend Lupe sashays in from the left and slam dunks us with unholy acid house thunderstorms. 'Only Sinners Survive'

His Pets debut is pounding late night tackle that sounds future-proof today but would have fit perfectly at any stage since the acid revolution. The title track is inspired, as is the whole EP, by magical TV drama consumed during lockdown; takes us straight across the leftfield with an electroclash style fusion of juggernaut acid and stark lyricism that reminds us that perfection is a delusion.

Deeper into the night we strut to strike deep mix gold on 'Den Of Iniquity' as a Lupe makes the drums sing in a slamming, Q&A style hook that will fit over any other track and wind the dancers up with its addictive and mischievous mutations. Finally we have 'Binge Dancer'. The biggest slammer of the EP, once again we're sent into a spin with broadsheet acid and the type of rattling, insistent percussion that ensures plenty of bingeing.

Handle with caution. Lupe might drive you loopy.

The Belfast based DJ & producer, Garry McCartney, otherwise known as EJECA, has been steadily and consistently building his sound and profile over time, through a series of impressive releases for Aus Music, Unknown To The Unknown, W&O Street Tracks, BPitch Control and Last Night On Earth, amongst others.  

‘The Crystal Maze’ EP is EJECA’s latest offering for Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two label, and comes backed with a rave rollicking Special Request remix.

EJECA carves out an energetic slab of audacious party house on ‘Unloving’, resplendent with rolling beats and stabby chords, and topped off with dramatic strings and vocal chops.  Paul Woolford dons his Special Request guise for the remix; skippy breakbeats, spinbacks, plenty of horns and a thunderous bottom end that is sure to devastate any speaker stack when this one drops!

Elsewhere on the EP, EJECA unleashes some 303 bassline action and dark vocals on ‘Standard Acid House Track’, which thankfully rises well above anything standard!  And on ‘Crystal Maze’, EJECA harks back to the darker dance energies that were a staple of the late 1980s UK acid house boom.  Wrapping up the EP, ‘ISWHATIS’ gets ever so slightly twisted with an orbiting synth hook and weighty stabs over a spirited rhythm section.

Long time innovator Mathias Kaden debuts on Rekids with two rolling cuts with remixes by leading Japanese artist Hiroshi Watanabe and Delsin Records regular Vril.

With two decades of experience, Mathias Kaden is without a doubt one of house music’s most consistent artists. Known for his versatile approach to music making, Kaden has released on labels like Ovum and Pets, not to mention Mule Musiq and Ornaments under his Japanese inspired side project Mathimidori. Not only that, Kaden has proven his adaptability with remixes of many top tier artists like DJ Koze, Wareika and Jesse Rose. He now joins Rekids to further establish his unwavering reputation.

‘Liberate Drums’ is already highly sought after having generated a lot of hype on a Honey Dijon podcast earlier this year and rightly so - Kaden layers claps with a looped leading groove and warped vocals. Vril then distorts the original, bringing filtered effects and crunchy percussion, while Hiroshi Watanabe’s musical rendition transforms the track with epic strings that work amongst elongated vocals giving the track a mystical quality. Finishing on a darker note, ‘Helicopter’ utilises warping waves which oscillate atop a bed of hammering percussion, infused with a groove that is destined to get you moving.

Joining DGTL Records’ impressive roster of artists, Dutch-Morrocan DJ/Producer Elias Mazian (@eliasmazian) is the latest addition to the label. Succeeding his debut Dutch synth-pop album launched earlier this year, the 3 track ‘All Night’ EP is a much awaited release in the house genre. The new EP is set to release on the 22nd of January, 2021.

With ‘All Night’, the Dutchman ventures back into predominantly house territory, inspired by Chicago house producers like Boo Williams with a side of New Jersey and the NYC ballroom influences. The EP features 2 original tracks, ‘Don’t Break It’ and ‘All Night’, plus a dizzying remix by British-Chilean DJ Shanti Celeste (@shanticeleste). The two artists know each other well, and their collaboration on the track is the final piece in the puzzle to making this EP whole.

The EP’s origins began with Mazian dancing in sweaty clubs on sunny mornings and blissful afternoons. He explains it as being locked in a groove to such an extent, that dancing feels like breathing - you don’t want it to end. This feeling of longing is strongly connected to his production process. With just a few synths, Mazian’s work creates melodies that just keep going. In his words ‘I tried to create loops you can never get sick of’.

The first track on the EP ‘Don’t Break It’, is an embodiment of this. It’s housy percussion at it’s best, merged with a magnetic groove. Mazian describes the track as holding onto a moment. The second track ‘All Night’ is one for the clubs. Inspired by the urge to dance all night, the up-tempo house record is reminiscent of all the scenes associated with the dancefloor. The remix is delivered by Shanti Celeste, who earlier this year released an album on her own ‘Peach Discs’ label. Her reimagining of the track encapsulates the early-morning-meets-afterparty sound, and is another reason as to why she is at the top of her game lately.

The artwork of the EP has been designed by Tasso Okinawa, known for his VJ work at DGTL. He is currently curating the artwork series for DGTL Records.
