Social expectations are always surounding us, inevitable construction of our society. To unlearn toxic behaviour, internalized processes is not an easy step. Nobody shows us at school, our parents too busy with the system and our friends overwhelmed by all this information. How do we reconnect with ourself if we grew up in two cultures, where are our roots, how do we spread them and how deep are they going and influencing us? The past as a filter, the future as a fuel for a new understanding of our self. Being in two cultures, influenced by capitalism and social expectations. Here Nive`s grounded and empowering statement for you folx: "How do I unlearn social expectations that I had to meet growing up between two very different cultures. Tired of hiding and adjusting, I am acting against some toxic structures and redefine my Swiss-Tamil identity. Finding other South-Asian artists online helps me a lot to keep going."
