First Ever Four Track Pryda EP

Eric Prydz today unveiled his new Pryda EP. It’s a classic slice of the inimitable Pryda sound that has defined the label’s output over the last ten years, and united the dance community. Pryda 028 is the first Pryda release to ever contain four tracks, and comes hot on the heels of the anthemic Eric Prydz summer hit ‘Liberate’.

These four tracks – Mija, Origins, Axis, & Backdraft - show another side to Pryda, one firmly rooted in the label’s club roots. Pryda 028 speaks to Prydz’ love of dark rooms and late nights, dancefloors with their heads down – audiences losing themselves in a journey, surrendering to the music, rather than demanding another recognizable drop.

Pryda 028 another genre defining release for Pryda – its house music but first and foremost it’s Pryda. The EP’s intricate blend and layering of harmonies and hooks, replete with that distinctive Prydz touch for melody, combine to make club music that just couldn’t come from anyone else.

Ten years and 28 releases in, Prydz and his Pryda label remain in the enviable position of straddling a line between the overground and underground, an achievement that is ever more difficult in the polarized world of contemporary electronic music.

Whether it’s a mainstage slot, or a dark after-hours session as his techno alias Cirez D, Prydz fans have come to expect something different and unique from the Swede. At a time when EDM festival mainstages homogenate, Prydz seems to stand further and further apart. This Pryda EP is an uncompromising exploration of the style and sound that define one of dance music’s truly singular talents.

John Monkman & Pete Tong - PHØENIX (Kompakt)

Italy’s fastest rising name in house and techno returns to the respected Drumcode imprint with this blistering new 4-track EP, ‘Climax’. Featuring a distinctive vocal sample crescending over a typically thumping bassline, opening lead track ‘Climax’ grows gradually with the introduction of a single synth note and skipping hi-hats. Two beatless breakdowns increase the pressure whilst a new synth melody is introduced in the second, making for a powerful ending as all the elements join together.

‘Boost’ starts out deep and dark, with a high-pitched call echoing over a determined beat. The track changes course mid-way through with the introduction of a bassy, low-pitched synth melody, helping ‘Boost’ evolve into a catchier, more playful track.

‘Spectre’, a no-nonsense closing piece featuring a jittering synth note, rattling hi-hats and a trademark tension-filled breakdown.

‘Over The Clouds’, as its name would suggest, is the gentlest of the four tracks. Filled with dusty textures over a rumbling bassline, twinkling synths move in waves before lower-pitched chords join, adding a real sense of depth to this production.

Overall, ‘Climax’ is an outstanding example of Faraone’s ear for detail as a producer: his experience as both a resident and touring DJ clearly feeds into his skill for manipulating tension in his productions like he does on the dancefloors. Having recently warmed up for Adam Beyer at Tenax, Marco Faraone’s relationship with the iconic label continues to grow.

Let the music speak for itself is a well known saying. It might be very applicable for this next release on Cinematique but nevertheless we will give you a short introduction.

One man who needs actually no introduction though is Teho. Our friend from France is unstoppable at this moment, making stunning tunes one after another. You can find his music and remixes on labels like Manual Music, Parquet recordings, Particles and more recently on Cinematique as well with his remix for Ben Stecker ft. Motsfeld. For this EP he teams up with his long time friend In-DikA. A relatively new name although he has done some proper releases before on Dreadful League and Clubstream Green for instance.

Together, In-DikA & Teho have produced some pure magic for this 'Mathematics EP'. Three brilliant originals full of everything you would expect from real melodic techno. As this was not enough yet, two of the tracks are remixed by the ever inspiring Mondkrater and newcomer Mark Höffen.

The EP kicks off with title track ‘Toasted’, a high energy stomper with infectious percussion, nasty vocal hooks and a chunky low end to boot. Next up ‘Freaky Deal’ sets a more sinister tone, using dark synths over a tight rhythm track and warped vocal sample culminating in a peak time groover. Warriors resident and VIVa veteran SEFF adds his flavour to ‘Freaky Deal’ next, which sees him bring down the tempo and introduce a new syncopated rhythm track whilst maintaining the sinister tone of the original. The EP concludes with ‘All Groove With It’, framing classic New York influences within the context of modern tech house.

As in every year, the unique sound of Deeperfect loudly echoes in the streets of Amsterdam during its huge, festive "Amsterdam Dance Event", in this context, who is better than the chief himself, Stefano Noferini, in representing the label's sound?
"Stefano Noferini presents Club Edition ADE 2016" is a monumental release consisted of 27 unreleased, brand new tracks, and one long continuos mix binding them together. Noferini, selecting the tracks himself, is also the one patching them all together in a masterful demonstration of what magic can be extracted out of this joyful spring of sounds.
Most of the 27 tracks loyally reflect the label's current sound signature: a careful minimal House flavoured with tribal elements. A wide selection and application of percussion tools, with a dominant presence of various claps and cowbells, and the famous Deeperfect punchy kick designs.
However, some of the other jewels in this box perhaps reveal something about the future sound of the label: an energetic, groove-loaded, peak-time materials that function as ultimate dance floor destroyers.
All together, this release is a must-have. It encapsulates a year's work of one of the world's most important labels, and is a delightful musical journey for any fan of electronic music.
