J Balvin is the stage name of José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, from Medellín, Colombia. Balvin is a reggaeton singer whose polished urban singles and best-selling albums have made him a top-tier Latin pop artist. He became interested in music at a young age while listening to rap, champeta, bachata, and reggae on the radio. He was also a big fan of music videos; it was from these that he began to develop his dance moves and cultivate his own style.

He signed to EMI Colombia in 2009 and released his first single, "Ella Me Cautivó," which charted at 35 on the U.S. tropical chart. This was followed by the release of the full-length Real in 2010. Balvin contributed four tunes to the soundtrack of the Tim Bulot film El Negocio. All of them charted, including "En Lo Oscuro," which hit the top spot in his native country.

La FamiliaBalvin was a featured vocalist on the Colombian version of Robin Thicke's smash single "Blurred Lines," which was issued in October of 2013, just prior to his own second album, La Familia. All four singles from the album charted in Colombia's Top Ten, and "Yo Te Lo Dije" hit number two on the rhythm chart and number nine on the Latin pop chart in the U.S. The B Sides collection appeared in September of 2014, featuring two more radio chart-topping singles in "6 AM" and "Ay Vamos." The latter won a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Song. His 2015 single "Ginza," the offcial pre-release for his next album, entered the Hot Latin Songs chart at number one, topped several others, and was certified platinum.
EnergíaBalvin's collaborations were as notable as his own work that year. He and Julión Álvarez were featured on Juan Gabriel's single "La Frontera." His "Latino Remix" of Justin Bieber's smash "Sorry" scored big for both artists at Latin pop radio and in digital streaming and downloads. The following year, Balvin won the Premios Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year Award and was a featured guest on both Sofia Carson's charting debut single "Love Is the Name" and on Alejandro Sanz's "Cuando Seas Grande" -- from a performance at La Voz -- along with Gloria Trevi and Los Tigres del Norte. In May, he released the single "Bobo," produced by Pharrell Williams, who also appeared on the track along with Mosty and Bia. It topped the Latin songs chart. The full-length, Energia, was produced by Sky and featured additional contributions from Bull Nene, Daddy Yankee, Fuego, Yandel, and Juanes.

Andri Snær Magnason, three-time recipient of the Icelandic Literary Prize, says he has to attend a FM Belfast concert at least once every six months, according to doctor's orders. It is worth mentioning that Andri Snær is not a doctor, but his father is a doctor; his grandfather was a doctor; his sister is no less than a neurosurgeon! Should we, the common, soot-stained masses, doubt the professional medical advice of an entire family?

Thankfully we don't have to. Because FM Belfast takes its role in the public's health very seriously. Because the members of the band are just like you and me—they are a part of us. They pay off their mortgages, take their kids to day care and in the evening boil potatoes. They don't always have enough to fill the gas tank or perhaps don't even have a car to begin with. They've even been known to play basketball in tattered sneakers.

The band's struggle for survival, and that of the Icelandic nation as a whole, is wearisome and tedious. But in the end, there is good news, because FM Belfast knows the antidote—the recipe for making the struggle a happy one and for patching the holes in tattered sneakers. Because as the poet said: "Smile and the world smiles back."

This spring the kids of FM Belfast are releasing their third full-length album, Brighter Days. Because, as the title suggests, there are brighter times ahead. And if not, we'll make brighter times. FM Belfast are doing their part in carrying out the gospel, armed with a smile on their lips and a seductive dance step at their feet. In May they will travel and rock the excited club-nations of Europe. Later in the sumer they will finish off with a tour of the festival circuit around the continent. And thank goodness, as everything is a mess there with the EU, as we all know. The only thing that can save them is perhaps dried fish and butter, or just dancing a bit along to FM Belfast. Doctor's orders.

Er war ein vorweihnachtliches Geschenk für seine Eltern und die Kreativabteilung aus Berlin. Der zukünftige DJ und Tätowierer, Rene Deepreen (René Scholz) erblickte am 14. Dezember 1977 im Lichtenberger Kiez das Licht der Welt. Ein wenig war sein beruflicher Weg vorbestimmt, denn die Familie war schon damals sehr künstlerisch veranlagt. Die Leidenschaft für Musik bestimmt bis heute sein Leben und das wird wohl auch für immer so bleiben. Die Schule meisterte Deepreen ohne große Schwierigkeiten, mit einer zweijährigen Episode in Dänemark. Nach der Schule zeigte Deepreen der Welt seine vielfältigen Talente. Langjähriges Vagabundieren durch die Berufslandschaft führte schließlich zur Ergreifung einer soliden Berufsausbildung als Mediengestalter. Schon während des Studiums verdiente er sich sein Geld als Tätowierer und sammelte Erfahrungen in mehreren Studios. Vom Studio bis zum Nachtschwärmen durch die Berliner Clubszene, erzielte sein Musikgespür immer größer werdende Anerkennung. In dieser Zeit lernte er den DJ, Labelbesitzer und Produzenten Alfred Heinrichs kennen, der ihn mit seinem Erfolg in der internationalen Musikszene inspirierte. Mit dem DJ. Duo Hennig und Scholz feierte Deepreen erste Erfolge. Es folgten Auftritte in diversen Clubs und sogar in London durften sie sich zum Besten geben. Für Deepreen ging ein Traum in Erfüllung. Jetzt tanzte er nicht nur in seinen Lieblingsclubs, sondern stand selbst hinterm DJ-Pult und durfte mit seinen Beats die Tanzfläche rocken. Langsam wurde es auch Zeit für ein Soloprojekt, von dem Deepreen schon lange schwärmte. Mit Deep House und Nu Disco füllt Deepreen nunmehr die Herzen seiner Fans. Ein neues Licht in der deutschen Electro-Szene wird in der Zukunft für die Eine oder Andere Überraschung sorgen...wir sind gespannt…..

He was a pre-Christmas gift for his parents and the creative department from Berlin. The future DJ and tattoo artist, Rene Deepreen (René Scholz) was born on December 14, 1977 in Lichtenberg. His career path was a little predetermined, cause the family was already very into arts. The passion for music determines his life until today and that will probably remain forever. The school was finished by Deepreen without much difficulty, also with a two-year episode in Denmark. After school, Deepreen showed the world his talents and is working as a media designer. Already during his studies, he earned his money as a tattoo artist and DJ. During this time he met the DJ, label owner and producer Alfred Heinrichs, who inspired him with his success in the international music scene. With the DJ. Duo Hennig and Scholz celebrated Deepreen first successes. It was followed by appearances in various clubs, even in London they were allowed to play. For Deepreen, a dream came true. Now hes not only dancin in his favorite clubs, but also stood behind the DJ desk himself and was allowed to rock the dance floor with his beats. With Deep House and Nu Disco Deepreen now fills the hearts of his fans. A new light in the German electro scene will cause some surprises in the future ... we are curious ... ..
