Mav has been active as a DJ since 2019, but her musical journey spans a lifetime. Not being particularly sporty as a child, her early years were shaped instead by a love for music. She learned to play various instruments – violin, guitar, piano, and of course, the good old Tin Whistle. Her father shaped her love for electronic music from an early age – no radio, just his CDs and later the Sony Walkman. Techno entered her life around the age of 14, but it wasn't until she was 16 that she found true appreciation for it. Over time, the appreciation turned into passion and Mav, in spite of a frustrating start due to her perfectionism, got her hands on the decks when 21 and twisted her life into an electronic direction. 

Powered by her belief in endless change and development, Mav has ever since been striving to curate her sound as close as it can get to her unique self at a given time. She names her main inspiration as Anetha for her multitasking decication to being a role model for women in the industry, while MZA makes to the top of her list for her unique and flawlessly produced tracks. Enchanted by the works of many other artists such as UFO95, Shannen Blessing, Flores, Aero, Dylan Fogarty, Ketek/KEEPKEEP, VTSS, Mac Declos, Glenn Wilson, Sunil Sharpe, DERV, PH87, Hoymans, and Jardinage, Mav twists her own sound into sexy, bouncy, and strange depths full of surprises. She has a special conneciton to weird, new sounds and textures: if it sounds like the work of an alien, she will be into it!

Producing for about 2 years now, Mav is still learning each day to develop her sound. Now proudly associated with the Reboot Agency, she has played at numerous clubs and festivals around Ireland, Ibiza, Germany, and Scotland, and she loves each and every gig she plays for the new and beautiful memories they bring. If she were to pick one standout gig, it would have to be her Boiler Room. It was a goal of hers for so long, and to achieve it means the world to her.

After nearly three years in the making this album, released on digital and vinyl sampler, represents the true essence of the unique Industrial Groove sound that Balrog has been looking to develop since his emergence on to the techno scene.

Taking inspiration from a broad spectrum of musical genres and culture, over the course of the album Balrog explores the use of captivating vocal stabs and phrases, carefully crafted atmospheric synths and rolling bass lines. All these elements are consistently bound together with the heavy and unrelenting drums and percussion that Balrog has become synonymous with.

My main inspiration was the journey and exploration of old tribal, techno/house records I began once I've got my first turntable and my passion for emulating oldschool ways of producing music. I wanted it to be raw, heavily sampled, but in contrast to how usually techno tracks were made - to contain more musical motives that would allow the A side tracks to vibe fully on their own, not being contained into a strict loopy DJ tool form.

The result is an A side that reflects on some of my favorite digs and classic sounds and it focuses on intensity and energy. During the production I was thinking a lot of anchoring a sunny, hot festival day feeling into those two tracks - to make them exciting - and fun without having to sound overly happy.

B side is an exploration into less club-centric inspirations, featuring a deeper, building vibe but also a very soulful and filter/french house inspired experiment.

While side A is driven by EBM themed tracks, side B hits a more mellow note with the Trance induced Kowloon City and it's ambient counterpart Kowloon's Reprise.
