With release nr. 11, Luv Shack Records are once again eager to exalt the diversity of their releases, while keeping up the quality.

LUV011 is the split EP of the two up and coming electronic music duos "Manhooker" and "Space Echo". Whilst both projects are still relatively new to the scene, they have equally made a stir with their first releases.

Manhooker consists of the two Berliners by choice Tomasz “Guiddo” Switala and Sebastian “Mavin” Magassouba. Their first release appeared on Ostgut Ton´s sublabel 'Unterton' and their second EP was recently released on german heavy hitters 'Sonar Kollektiv' - a collab with ex New Yorker Snax, featuring a remix by Justus Köhncke.

With 'Pushin & Shovin', Manhooker are once again evoking the spirit of classic soulful house hymns. It's an uplifting mix of 90s organs, filtered arpeggios and thick drums all held together by an acid bassline and Mavin´s shimmering vocals. And not to forget the trumpet solo!

The remix of 'Pushin & Shovin' comes from Brazilian wunderkind ROTCIV (who has already remixed Manhooker on their Unterton release). He strips off the smoothness of the original in favor of a more raw and analogue vibe. Its groove seems like a merger of modern electro and classic house, and although ROTCIV´s trademark stabs and pads are used quite ecstatically on this remix, the song structure remains just as strong as in the original.

On The flipside we have Space Echo, the duo of Viennese producer caTekk and (Luv Shack`s very own) Lee Stevens. Their first ever production as a duo was a remix for none other than Austra on Domino Records.

They're offering two equally powerful cuts on the B-side; 'Soul Power' is nothing short of a club burner. A mighty and continuously building ride of funk organs and disco drums, all with a delightfully modern touch. When the vocal kicks in for the first time, ringing in the break, the audience will surely fall into a frenzy when exposed to it! The disco guitars are just the icing on the cake.

'Soul People' takes a slightly more sensual path. Expect dreamy rhodes, dubbed out percussive organs, an almost reggae worthy bassline, a painfully sweet vocal hook and a sharp rhythm that make this track a perfect choice for every warmup, after-hours and daytime set!

With all its ingredients, LUV011 will provide something for everyone who loves electronic music with soul!

Originally released by Musical Freedom, the instrumental edit of 19-year-old Oliver Heldens’ deep house smash ‘Gecko’ has become a staple in club sets for 2014, peaking at #2 in the Beatport chart and garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Zane Lowe. 

The latest edit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, written and vocalled by Becky Hill during a late night recording session with MNEK, is being released by Parlophone’s vital new dance imprint FFRR. Initially written for another vocalist, Becky’s towering vocal on Gecko’s chorus was deemed the perfect fit and has already been coined the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Zane Lowe.

On the flipside of LUV013, brazilian producer and one half of “The Rimshooters” ROTCIV lays down two complex yet dancefloor oriented house tracks. “Old Good Luvin’” is a soulful house hymn that pays tribute to synth driven early italo and classic chicago house. ROTCIV intertwines the different styles to create his very own blend of deep house.

“Just Take Me Higher” evokes similar feelings but has a slightly darker touch to it. Eerie John Carpenter-esque pads contrast the punchy bassline, eprom drumbeat and organ stabs to create a mood coming straight from an 80s elektro joint.

“Deep Down”, the digital bonus track, shows ROTCIV going all the way to 90s Jersey house. Synth stabs and a shuffle beat are the key elements to this track.

After months of musical celibacy, LeSale returns to Luv Shack with his "In Command EP" - featuring a set of disco drenched original tracks and a remix by New York native Jacques Renault!

The title track "In Command" is a modern disco piece with all the necessary ingredients; warm piano chords, lush strings, a funky synth bassline and the lovely lead vocals by Mavin (Manhooker / Unterton) and background vocals by Marie-Éve Desjardins. The track holds a clever balance between uplifting dancefloor attitude and song structure, making it a worthy addition to daytime and disco sets. For straight dancefloor action there's the "Dub Mix" (exclusively on vinyl) that stripps down the original with sparse vox but full instrumental!

Aditionally, Jacques Renault (Lets Play House / NY) steps in as a remixer and delivers a haunting beach house rendition that evokes strong late 80's / early 90's house feelings. Etheral strings, hushed vox and the cut up piano delicately sit on top of an almost tribal beat - it's an hypnotic affair.

"Disco Leviathan" is a genuine boogie rollercoaster that builds around a heavy bassline, chopped disco vox and a cheeky synth sample that's thrown in for good measure. As the track evolves, Juno pads add a cosmic feel that'll probably make the most renitent people want to shake a leg!

Last but not least there's LeSale's cunningly titled "Panorama Bra". With its dry beat and bassline, it's probably the most house infused original on the EP, but once the piano kicks in, it opens up to become a veritable new-disco ride, only to close with a somewhat nasty synth arpeggio.

Complementing their eponymous party series, Luv Shack Records have brought together
a group of new and regular artists for their first "Shack Your Body" compilation. With an array of nine choice cuts, this compilation offers just the right blend of laid back chuggers, disco stompers and more aggressive house tracks that have made their label nights so popular.

Kicking things off, the young viennese newcomer Giuseppe Leonardi brings together light hearted chicago house vibes and modern beatdown on "It's Drivin' Me". 

On "Got It", Space Echo take us back to the halcyon days of disco, striking a similar note to their smash hit Soul Power, albeit this track being a bit more stripped down and synth infused.

"Another Bite (Dub Mix)" marks the first appearance of Redscape - a collaboration between Functionist and MOTSA. In an effort to channel the funkier side of house, the two producers combine classic rhodes, moog bass and an array of disco samples in a fashion that will inevitably tingle your toes.

Burnin' Tears are bringing their sound to a new level with "Nights Of Horror". The track builds on a solidly organic drum groove and a relentless electric bass to become a funky yet hypnotic piece of dub house, jamaican soundbits and church organs included! 

LeSale takes an unusually sombre and hypnotic route with his contribution "Phantom Vibes". This one is all about the swirling hihats carrying the groove, with wailing strings and a ballsy synth bass setting the tone afterwards.

The norwegian producer and Full Pupp contributor Jarle Bråthen drops an "Italo Mullet", and nomen est omen! Full on 707 drum action meets synthbass, weird leads and angelic strings.

ROTCIV continues to explore an acid tingled house style with "Dream In Silence". Whilst building around the classic main acid ingredients, the track still obtains a great melodic quality and versatility that has become a characteristic of Brazilian producer ROTCIV.

The last new addition to the Luv Shack roster is the Berliner and Renate Schallplatten mastermind Sebastian Voigt. His "Smoke And Mirrors" intertwines industrial harshness with an 8bit synth theme and John Carpenter-esque pad and arpeggio themes. 

The final track sees Jakobin & Domino return to their home stable with a moody stunner of a house track. "Retronome" is a laid back and dreamy ride packed with warm pads, silk y strings and an irresistible vocal theme.

There has been a musical changing of the guard in Vienna the last years. Over due too some would say. Out with old crusty chilled downtempo and elevator music and most definitely in with new exciting and innovative electronica, be it Hip Hop or House or Techno. Much of this has been because of the new breed of club and party people who have taken risks and brought over from overseas very cool underrated and forward thinking producers and DJ’s to play at their parties. This has influenced a new generation of likeminded musical factions and cliques in Vienna who are now producing passionate and quality beats too. One such label is Luv Shack Records and apart from organising some of the cities best parties, they now see fit to express themselves through the medium of vinyl and digital downloads with a roster of local talent.

LeSale opens things up on the EP with “Make me feel so good”. Strong Disco overtones that hark back to the days of the Garage and the Loft. Disco in its purest and most sensible form was always just about a groove, and this has a groove. Minimal piano and vocal loops take nothing away from this gorgeous groove either.
Burnin Tears continue the Nu-Disco theme with “Confessions”. A punchy almost reggae trance with the big claps and a massive gospel shout out that really do light up this energy laden track. Vienna is definitely in the house though with some tight echo and reverb filling the holes.
On the flip, we get more sophisticated and deeper with Jakobin &amp; Domino, two very exciting producers that have had some nice sounds recently on Easy Moods out of Graz. These guys always add plenty of atmosphere to their music and “Night Glow” just oozes the savoir-faire with some soft acid and a little late night Detroit.
Last but not least, Lee Stevens &amp; The Beautiful People drop one of those mid tempo monsters that never feel out of place these days. Dropping the odd cowbell and with short and thick basslines that really do stick, this ends up being a really tight channel and groove.

“If it isn´t broken don´t fix it” goes the saying. And that is definitely the case with Luv Shack 002. After a brilliant opening with 001 why indeed change a winning recipe? So the good people of Luv Shack have done the right thing and opted with another sampler from the same personal and another stonking EP from the boys from Vienna. The exciting thing about the last release was the consistency with all four artists and tracks picking up props from various parts of the Globe. The quality control department at Luv Shack records is obviously in supreme working order with yet another fantastic four for the floor to report on.

Once again, LeSale leads the way like he did on LUV001 with “On the Beach” First thing that hits you is the pull on that bass string. It wobbles from here to eternity and I got to question the size of the fingers of the Mutha that pulls that string. Got the build ups too with some big multi-tier action. Not just happy to sit in monster groove, it´s got some serious breaks and some shake downs that take you definitely to the next level. All about building it up, yeah!

The return too of Burnin Tears is most welcome. Super tight and precise, and with a beautiful warmth and lush deepness. The sort of track I wanna hear in complete darkness. Big claps and hypnotic snyths hold “How I Feel” together, and the pitched down vocal snippet is just plain sexy. I sometimes wish everyone would talk in real life pitched down to this sort of sound.

The B-Side gets off to a flyer with Jakobin & Domino. The nice big healthy dosage of “Jack” in this track is sure to make this a big winner right around peak time. The big throbbing bass also is bound to bust out a sweat in some unsuspecting punter on a dancefloor somewhere.

And as last time, Mr Lee Stevens brings up the rear with ”Reapers of Luv”. Last not least is an apt saying too in this case with this being an absolute stormer and wonderful musical journey. A monstrous moody looping rhythm and some magical interplay make this an epic track to get things really going. Huge!
