John Vermont drops his second single “Sunday Afternoon” jamming with the hotly tipped infamous UK funky, footwork and future garage duo BSN Posse.

“Sunday Afternoon” is an exciting romance where the talented soul vocalist and songwriter joins forces with the no less gifted couple of beat-makers (keep in mind their highly acclaimed LP “Forever” released via Slime Recordings on 2015). The stars align perfectly on this track resulting of a solid sound recipe, a quirky joy with some of John’s most heart-on sleeve lyrics. 
You can’t deny the subtle hip-hop / trap influenced liquid beats of “Sunday Afternoon” underneath John’s hypnotising voice. A flotation experience that moves from the R&B territory gazing some recent classics like Deptford Goth or Chet Faker, and not so classics, Al Green or Curtis Mayfield to name a couple, into what seems to be a blissful mutation of jazz, electronic rhythms and addictive urban grooves.

This track is melodic, lyrical, and accessible. Beautiful and highly infectious, this one will be on repeat!

John Vermont & BSN Posse - Sunday Afternoon (IRREGULARS002)

MadTech finish up the year with its ‘Winter Sampler 2018’ compilation including eight exclusive tracks from Josh Butler, Mia Dora, Dirty Secretz, Garry Todd and more.

After yet another successful year for the MadTech imprint following releases from the likes of Tough Love, Cera Alba, Devstar and more, they close out 2018 with their annual winter compilation through a collection of dancefloor focussed tracks from some of house music’s most exciting names.

Dirty Secretz ‘I See You’ kicks things off with garage tinged percussion, infectious vocals and pulsating low end before Javi Bora, Iban Montoro and Jazzman Wax’s ‘Da Groove’ delivers enticing bass grooves balanced with clattering kicks and highs. Origins Rcrds’ Josh Butler then offers up an energetic roller through shuffling drums and hip hop vocal samples whilst Roog’s ‘Bubble Push’ is filled with hypnotic pads, tasteful vocals and winding synth movements which then follows suit in Relativ’s ‘Lean Back’.

London’s Garry Todd’s ‘Take Me Higher (Vocal Mix)’ delivers a stripped back lo-fi beat balanced with alluring synth waves and a smooth vocal line until Clock’s ‘Magnitude’ displays wonderfully balanced hypnotic textures through meditative dubbed out flutters and a deep bassline. The Glasgow duo Mia Dora then finish things off with ‘Myth’ through minimal aesthetics, a tension building lead line and Let The Machines Do The Work’s uplifting singing.

Hot Creations get set to release an album from label favourite, Toronto based DJ and producer Nathan Barato. Stepping away from his usual sound, Barato brings with him an old-school, energetic bounce to this ten track offering, inviting some top names to join him for the ride.

The album begins with Over You. Swirling arpeggios dance around the pulsating beat, providing the perfect backdrop for the poppy, yet soulful vocals of Wayne Tennant. This leads neatly into A Sun's Dream, which is exactly that - a warm, sunny track, pure party-time house produced alongside the French composers and afro-soul singers, Djeuhdjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson. Up next is Context featuring Lost BOUL. & NB76 - the aliases of Paolo Rocco and Nathan himself. It’s a techier affair with contrasting elements that take the track through a range of twists and turns. She's A Rockstar, produced alongside fellow Canadian Room 303, picks up the pace with its infectious rhythm and playful vocal hook.

On In Ya Soul Barato utilises a booty-house style bassline, enlisting Chicago’s Kid Enigma to provide the vocals.

High Rez brings back the sunny vibes with a tantalising guitar hook and dreamy piano topline, juxtaposed against the deep, whirring bassline. The slow, yet assured drum beat of Bubbles is up next with its woozy bass and gentile percussion sending the listener on a trance-inducing journey into the cosmos. Don't Say It features the smouldering vocals of Mikey V, layered over a throbbing beat that looks set to be one of Hot Creation’s summer anthems. Penultimate track Yo Yo has a sturdy bounce and effortlessly blends cowbells and suspenseful synths.

The album closes out with Crazy - a track that’s full to the brim of high energy with a marching bassline that’s sure to cause a commotion on dance-floors across the globe.

Nathan Barato has been a key figure in dance music for some time. His diverse sets have led to residencies at some of the industry’s hottest nights including Paradise and Elrow. He’s had a slew of hits on impressive imprints such as Hottrax, REKIDS, Relief and Saved Records. As well as this, Barato also heads up the RAWthentic label alongside Carlo Lio, which has charted releases from top artists including DJ Deeon and Stacey Pullen.

Welcome to 2021! Progressive veterans Numedian & Nygma collaborate to ring in the new year with “New Dawn”, a metaphorical title that marks the end of a tumultuous 2020 and emphasizes innovative beginnings and new resolutions.

The original fuses light and dark themes in a symbolic balance of melodic yin and yang. “New Dawn” emerges from a deep percussive intro that recedes into a balearic breakdown. Lush guitars paint the morning sky and wintry melodic waves curl into summer vibes. AltReal revs up the dance floor appeal by converting “New Dawn” into an accelerated driving force. Powerful pads, a touch of Anjuna, and boisterous rhythm take this remix to the next level. White waters, cotton sands, and a couple margaritas are easy to imagine with balearic prodigy Cullera’s magic island interpretation.

Trip (Disclosure's #BeHoward 16)

Recorded a nice 7/8 chord progression on the guitar and passed it through a tape plugin to make it cool, then completely destroyed it with a naughty trap beat and some distorted 808's.

I actually wanted to make a trap beat for my next BeHoward entry as there's been a serious lack so far, and as I'm a massive fan of 7/8 then I figured this is the one!
